  1. I have a pencil urchin, who is covered in GHA, that I am looking to trade.

He is a coralline munching machine. He also ate my orange zoas, but hasn't touched any of my other zoas.

I'd take some oranges zoas! Make an offer.

Here is a picture of him, with an emerald crab riding along.

  2. Jake,

I'm off until Fri so anytime works for me. Let me know day/time combo that works for you and we can meet somewhere in between.

  3. Seems odd to lose a few fish after that amount of time.

Take a air pump or two to help with circulation. Walmart has cheap ones called a BubbleBox found in the fishing supply isle.

The biggest thing, in my limited experience, will be heat. When our AC went out a few weeks ago, the tank got up to 84-86 and stayed there a few days. My LPS showed some signs of displeasure but I didn't lose anything.

I was able to keep the temps down by putting my GFO/GAC reactor inside a Styrofoam cooler and filled it with water and ice. You can also float bottles/bags full of ice.

  4. I like my Elos one, but havent used it anytime recently. My main test is...do I have algae?=yes, I have more than enough PO4.

I also tried the API one, it was ok too but not sensitive enough.

  5. Has anyone ever witnessed emerald crabs mating?

We just saw our remaining two 'wrestling' and it's the only thing I can think that was happening. The smaller one was on top and they were in, for lack of a better term, the missionary position. The larger one had a pretty good hold on the smaller one with the back legs.

They weren't fighting with their big front pinchers.

  6. Forgot to mention that a MAASTARD couple, Mr and Mrs Z28PWR, joined us. Jose and Mizeny(sp) were very cool and it was good to meet some of the 'southies'.

Theresa; sorry to hear about your unplanned 'event'. It didn't happen around 5 or 6p did it? We were down the road visiting some of our neighbors and heard a few sirened vehicles pass by.
