  1. that's what she said. ill see myself out.
  2. That's kind of a **** move. That said, so glad I sold when I sold my last tank. Next tank will have Apex360.
  3. ive used those exact valves on my dads koi pond. they're ok. ive had to replace one that leaked around the top seal. I don't know that they're great for long term flow rate control though.
  4. I think that means the forum has to disband when three people are familiar with diboll.
  5. The thing about reagents is that they are just chemicals. Chemicals that can be identified and sourced independently.
  6. Two people who've been to Diboll in the same forum? Say it ain't so.
  7. it seems like it would make bulb replacement a PITA. with a horizontal mounting, you could drain the fixture through the outlet, whereas it would be full until you removed the bulb fitting in a vertical installation.
  8. You think MACNA will ever be held in Ranger, Texas? Maybe Diboll or Texas City? No?
  9. This office is swaaaaaank. Everything you think about what a dallas oil company office would look like, this place looks like. Beautiful decor, great view. I'd be scared to spill saltwater, or spend too much time futzing with it!
  10. We both know it's cheaper to prevent the spills than to clean them up!
  11. hah, all it took was two years to get eveything ironed out! glad youre growing children and SPS now.
  12. Congrats to Dr. Frame. This last bout of academia has pretty thoroughly convinced me that I'm done with school. I have an internship this summer. I'll be prospectin' fer oil in Dallas. Not geographically looking for oil in Dallas, there isn't any there, but I will be physically in Dallas looking for oil elsewhere.
  13. IM GUNNING FOR YOUR POST COUNT TA.
  14. I'll do you one better. There's this meme going academia where they try to describe their research in under 30 words with only the 10,000 most common words. I shoot rocks with energy to determine their element makeup. I use these elements with some other data to see if it would make a good oil reservoir.
  15. Just turned in my thesis draft. What did I miss? I kind of just blacked out for two years or so.
  16. Agreed. Ozone can be dangerous if left unchecked and will impact everything in a tank, whereas UV will only kill what passes through the reaction chamber.I haven't gotten to research it much yet. What is the main risk to worry about? An out off control ozone generator? What would be the effects of pumping too much ozone into the system? Destruction of the bacterial population in the tank? Oxidative effects on soft tissue of gills on fish and on flesh of corals? Are there any long-term worries? Any health and safety concerns for the household? The main risk is some of the secondary byproducts of ozone dosing, if the dosing is too high. The first one that comes to mind is a bromide byproduct which has a very similar effect chlorine/chloramine. Like you intimated, it's a strong oxidant and can be removed with GAC. I would think coral irritation, gill irritation and bacterial reduction could all be potential side effects. I'm not aware of any long term effects and I don't think there are household safety issues AFAIK.
  17. ozone = some risk. UV = essentially no risk.
  18. FYI, unless you're using high grade carbon like the universal blocks that BRS sells or a Pentek, it is generally pretty useless at chloramine removal. You might get a few hundred gallons through even a dual series of no-name carbon block, but then the chloramine bleed sets in and starts to chew up your membrane, which is also not great at removing chloramine, and then lays waste to your DI resin.
  19. classic engineer....
  20. You say that like the pump isnt a present in and of itself.
