  1. why not XF250's? that extra 700 gph isn't worth 100 extra bucks... I got a pair with controller for 400 on RC.
  2. Zerging this thread back up. It's been a while Tim. I wonder how his tank is doing?
  3. Easy, guys.. I put my pants on just like the rest of you -- one leg at a time. Except, once my pants are on, I make gold records. -Bruce Dickinson
  4. You really are ready to be a coral seller with that light. SATURATTION TOOOO 100000000!000000000000% I wonder if there are coral health issues when using that quantity of true UV. How does it affect the overall spectrum? We need to get a spectral analyzer....
  5. So long pastels. Hello less tank crashes.
  6. i love how they jacked the apex color scheme on the alkatronic
  7. Is your theme "meanest tank ever" ?
  8. Entre dans la voiture. Nous allons au magasin!
  9. To piggyback, the best way to measure alkalinity (and in fact even the definition) relies on a titration, but instead of a color endpoint, it's a pH endpoint. The lab grade alkalinity tests add tiny increments of acid until a specific pH is reached at which all titratable bases, in our case we're primarily interested in the most prevalent carbonate in marine waters as bicarbonate (HCO3) have been consumed.
  10. how did the high tds water happen? Interesting that it had such a pronounced effect.
  11. Where was he carrying these stow-away corals, exactly...
  12. i used loctite PL in the past for pond applications. no issues there but obviously the sensitivity is lower. try adding some activated carbon if you dont have any.
  13. I'll call it "Ty's Corner of Undesirables"

  16. I could absolutely find thesis more abstract than your wildest dreams. Ur just jealous you didnt get in to bangladeshi tech U to study 45 degree elbow flow... http://amchiller.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Dry-Cleaning-Chillers-Installation-Bypass-Loop-1402-01.pdf http://daytonashrae.org/downloads/presentations/ASHRAE_YEA_091409.pdf This white paper brings up an interesting point about using a chiller in this fashion, namely "chiller starvation": "The chiller will starve for flow causing the water temperature to be very cold coming out of the chiller but at a reduced flow that will cause the loop temperature to swing wildly between cold and hot! The purpose of the flowing loop has been defeated and the chiller can not maintain the reservoir and loop temperature at an even temperature." There is a surprising amount of literature out there about this topic. They almost all do it in really complicated ways...
  17. check out my geologist interpretation of what is happening here. MS paint of course.
