  1. Honestly I think its pretty unlikely that something not in the tank like this hook would a) have a measurable impact and b) be detrimental. Like I said in my last post, there are some scientists who I know who are well regarded in their fields (i.e., running a marine chemistry lab at a major R1 university) who voiced strong concerns over the methods being used here and their fitness for use. That doesn't even get into the interpretation part, which is challenging too. I personally would not use my money on ICP testing as anything other than a curiousity. However, you see the dark side of this in that you now feel the need to act and you better believe these labs follow up with magical potions to fix whatever ails you. I'm just not a believer. I would spend that money on a really good tank controller, monitor temp/sal/alk via controller if you can swing it and just be patient.
  2. Before you drive yourself crazy, please consider the fact that this analysis may not be accurate or precise. This is why i don't like these broad spectrum analyses, because they're so hard to interpret and triton in particular has not been particularly forthcoming with their methodology in spite of calls for transparency by experts in marine aqueous chemistry. Before you go making tons of changes, find another lab next time and send a duplicate sample to them as you send it to triton. This will help confirm/deny something funky is actually going on.
  3. What does your will say about your tanks ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  9. Not sure if this is relevant to your issues but: NOTICE: Yesterday, at approximately 19:45 PST we had a hardware failure to a key Apex Fusion server located with AWS. Our normal operating procedure for such an event went into effect and Apex Fusion was back to normal operation for all customers in less than 25 minutes. During this outage, a percentage of Apex Classic customers (ApexClassic, Apex Gold, Apex Lite, and Apex Jr) were affected in that upon not receiving proper communication from this server, they reached a never-before-seen unstable state, and then subsequently rebooted as a recovery method. We have reports that some rebooted several times. We are currently investigating this issue in an attempt to recreate it in our lab, and if we can do that, put in place a software fix to prevent it from happening in the future. Second generation Apex owners (the “2016” model) were not affected in this way because they maintain connection and communicate to Apex Fusion in a slightly different manner. They simply lost connection with the Apex Fusion servers for that time while we were performing the recovery. By 20:15 PST our server was back online and all Apex should have been back to normal operation. If your Apex remains disconnected from Apex Fusion, please contact our support team here:https://www.neptunesystems.com/support/contact-support/ No data was lost and no programming or configuration on your Apex was changed due to this downtime event. Your Apex should be operating normally at this time. We apologize for this service interruption.
  10. what about that router prevents iota?

  13. i havent done it yet, but here's the idea: https://forum.neptunesystems.com/showthread.php?23847-IOTA-Maxspect-Gyres
  14. if you have an apex, there is a way to control them with an icv6 module and cut out the gyre controller completely if you're into that.
  15. You can find brushless masterflexes for under 500. With the kamoers coming out and being refined, i fully expect the used masterflex market to be reduced.
  16. oHHHhhhh. i need a sump cover....
  17. For some of the mixes, red sea coral pro comes to mind, they really oversaturate some of the parameters (e.g., alk) so that people have to dose less maybe? In that case, if there is more alk than can sustainable stay dissolved at whatever conditions they are mixed at (temperature/pH mostly), some of the alk or caco3 or whatever is supersaturated will precipitate out as scale. If that's what you mean by potency I can see that, but I would be careful basing decisions on things that cant be measured or defined.
  18. I've got a pH controller. It will probably need a new probe though. It's a Reef Fanatic micro-pH.

  20. RHF always comes through to show you how complicated you thought a simple thing was.
  21. Because they are already in relatively stable concentrations in salt. When we dose, the area that is dosed is saturated with more than the water can dissolve normally in a short time. When both get dosed at causes them to more or less combine and form into a solid which cannot dissolve readily.
  22. i have been "not having a tank" for 3 years in anticipation of this.
  23. The club needs to go in on a NIST traceable thermometer for calibrations.....
