  5. I worked in event production in college, earned my bachelor of fine arts (majoring in graphic design). After getting out of college I got a job as a junior art director at a design firm in San Antonio. I was fired in 3 weeks after what I felt was not much of a chance to get into a groove. I then moved to Dallas with a job as an art director for an insurance company. I spent 18 months there feeling like the job was torture. I then moved to the Austin area after getting a job at an event production company which is where I still work, 6 years later. I still enjoy what I do and where I work. I mostly work on PowerPoint and keynote presentations, although I do get the occasional work that's a little more creative. However I also wear the hats of: audio engineer, video director, cameraman, and scenic carpenter. My favorite type of design is logo design, which is why I decided to redesign the ARC logo shortly after joining the forum. I'm glad my skills can be put to use in a great community.
  6. 3 weeks ago I saw a single aiptasia polyp poking its head out of apiece of rock. I immediately went after it with a syringe of vinegar. I wasn't sure if I got it, but I haven't seen it since. When would it be safe to assume its dead?

Aptasia is like Jason from Friday the 13.

They are never really dead :)

  7. I've noticed a lot of fish on live aquaria.com that have recommendations to feed 3 times or more per day. Is this true in most cases? How is that accomplished?

I've kept anthias for years with an ehiem feeding 4 times a day and pellets mixed with krill meal.

My anthias got fed 2x a day and sometimes went 2-3 days w/no feeding if I was out of town. She was fat and happy.

Yeah same here. Had 3 lyretails and I fed my tank every 2-3 days sometimes when I wouldn't be home during the photoperiod. They always did fine .

  8. Placed my order for 42 LEDs, 3 dimmable drivers, and 120ft of wire today...woo!

  17. So I was out of town for around a week, came home to a powerhead fallen over blowing on the sand and the auto top off sensor had come loose of the zip tie and was floating in the sump. Is it always like that when you leave the tank? Sheesh

    1. Juiceman

      Juiceman

well if you think about all the random crap that seems to happen when you're around, it still happens when you're gone, you're just not there to fix it. Happened to me every trip i've since i've had a tank.

Went to the Ren Fest a couple of years ago, came home a tank 1/2 emptied on the floor. Sprayer bar on the Ehiem filter came loss. Got rid of the Ehiem & invest in a controller that would e-mail me

Yep. I can just go to work and come home to some kind of mess. Never fails. Going out of town always means something will go haywire.

  18. Brought home a GBTA...two hours later it took a ride through a powerhead. It didn't get chopped up, and its foot looks ok, but its mouth is open. Chances of survival?

Looks like its ok, it moved about 10" overnight, the mouth is closed, and a couple of tips are bubbled. Still a little chewed up on one side though.
