    bryopsis

They don't have any right now unless they got a shipment since yesterday afternoon. Probably less than 10 saltwater fish in the whole store right now. RCA may have one, but I'm sure that either aqua dome or aquatek has one.

How big is this tank? Is the bryopsis on the rock or is it isolated somewhere? Foxface are the only fish, or really only animal, I've seen eat it regularly.
  3. Back from a week vacation. It's nice when you can leave for a week or two and not worry about a tank. Automation is great!

      ooh talk nerdy to me

  4. I think PG13 may be subjective...
  5. And you don't mind your fishes fins getting shredded. Yoyo and clown loaches work for the little nightmare pond snails.
  6. Nerites are the only ones I will use in FW. There are several varieties, some are very colorful and interesting as well. I've just had too many problems with prolific snails, so unless they cannot breed in FW, they're not going in my tank. Also, despite what they say on lifespan, I have some that are more than 4 years old that are still going strong.
  7. I went from about 10 gallons a week to about 3 when I went to a chiller. I was able to keep my temp in the right area but am extremely glad I snagged one since I've lost my AC 2 times this year already. My pico hit mid 90's for a few days in a row. With all the SPS in my main tank, I think there would have been some major losses.
  8. I definitely put mine at the bottom. If they have too much light, they're guaranteed to run. If they have too little, they typically try to tough it out and then slowly move if they have to.
  9. If you have vortechs, you can get them off the shelf. I don't think I've seen them for non vortech models. I definitely recommend using them for vortechs. I've lost several fish that got too close and stuck to a vortech.
  10. As of now going to do a direct transfer. Should give me much more room for my hammers to be apart from my SPS and LPS that they keep stinging. I do have a very nice branching feature that came with the tank that I may incorporate later. I'm also overstocked right now and should be just about perfect in the 90 with no new additions.
  11. 90 gallon rimless, coming soon...
  12. Got denied driving up north this afternoon, so took some pictures instead. Ricordea are growing great. Some have 3 or 4 mouths already. Here's the poor guy I bleached. Still hanging on though.
  13. These guys are pretty much bulletproof, far more than most coral in my experience. If your tank is even 6 months old I can't imagine having any problem. I do a bag float and then turkey baster method for about 30 minutes. I don't mess with the lights at all. Turn off all the pumps and place them where you want them. Pray they don't go cruising across some prized coral, but otherwise, that's it. Turn the pumps back on low about 30 minutes after adding, then back to normal after another half hour or so.
  14. I didn't have enough ports on my EB8 so I'm doing the exact same thing, probably with the same switch. I water change from a spare pump in my sump so I have to manually flip off the return pump, skimmer and ATO. If I had the space I would definitely prefer to run them from the Apex.
  15. Heater, return pump, skimmer, and ATO for sure. This way you can setup feeding and water change cycles without flooding your skimmer collection cup or sucking the food through the overflow before the fish can eat it or dumping topoff water into the sump if you water change from it instead of the DT. Heater obviously so you can use the Apex to control the temp.
  16. Do you have decent flow in the tank and some mechanism skimming the surface. Sounds like some biofilm to me. Haven't personally had issues with it on the glass but water surface for sure.
  17. Does the top have a frilly section? Have never seen a bristle worm with that, unless it's just something else in the photo.
  18. I'd be tempted to add a red and violet or two. But I've been getting great results in my pico with just cool white and royal blue alone. Not into long term by any means but I love the color and even my macro algae's been growing like crazy.
  19. I would be worried about all the damsels. I'm assuming the black striped one is a damsel as well. That's a pretty hefty number of demon fish in that size tank
  20. Bit of a tangent, but those screws are one of the best inventions ever. We rebuilt a huge deck and about 500ft of picket fence last summer at my parents house in Colorado. Expensive as heck but worth it all the way. I'll never use normal philips again for large projects, especially ones that require high torque.
  21. Still available if anyone is looking for a nice Jr set.
  22. Final stocking/equipment list. Not really changed in 2 months. Will get a picture after I scrub the glass. About 12 Florida Ricordea Dragon's breath algae (Halymenia) Gracilaria Hayi algae That's about it. Still going to add some zoas, some purple cespitularia, and probably some sexy shrimp. In no hurry whatsoever. Fixture is still DIY from rapid LED. Hydor theo heater but not being used much since my AC has been out 2x in the past month. About 1# of special grade reef sand and 3# of BRS pukani rock. Single stock pump. Stock foam in the rear chamber. No carbon, GFO, or really any additives. Have done 2 water changes total now. Top off ~2x per week if I remember it with about 12 - 20 oz of Ro/DI. This has to be the most neglected tank I've ever setup. I'm very convinced that no fish = easy tank. I did have a slight diatom bloom, and now have some green film algae, which I'm confident will go away whenever I get around to doing another water change. Ricordea don't seem to mind hitting 90 degrees due to no AC. Did bleach one, but it's still hanging in there.
  23. SCA 302. Best value I've seen. Small footprint. Basically a clone of bubble magus and other conical skimmers. Good pump, good design. Supposedly rated for 180, but more like 90 - 120 in reality.
