  1. That is some tough luck. I hope you can get your 70 of the ground and get back into the swing of things!
  2. I am excited to announce we will be having our April 19th meeting in the medical office building adjacent to the Dell Children's Medical Center, called Strictly Pediatrics to see Mojo's 450G display. This tank is absolutely fantastic. John and Brian for Kingfish designed and installed the system. This meeting is an excellent opportunity to see how a LARGE aquarium is put together. There is one important thing to note. The doors of the office are locked during the weekend. We will have to escort everyone to the proper floor. So, punctuality is a must. The meeting will start at 2pm. All attendees will need to meet in the parking lot between 1:30-1:45. We will not be able to take anyone up after 2:15. If you arrive at 2:30 I can assure you no one will be available to let you in. There is a covered parking garage sandwiched in between the hospital and the office building, and it's free on the weekend. Here are the details April 19th 2pm(in parking lot by 1:45pm) Strictly Pediatrics 1301 Barbara Jordan Blvd. suite 400, Austin, TX 78723 450G Peninsula display! John from Kingfish will of course give us a complete tank tour(inside and out) and answer any questions. He will also discuss his water changing techniques. Here is a map(google maps seems to think the hospital is in La Grange, TX when in fact it is in central Austin)
  3. I know HD has them. They are called utility sinks. They are super cheap and have amazingly easy hook-ups. http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores...uctId=100415928
  4. Looks good. I hope the wait was worth it. Euroreefs kick butt! So are you able to take the cup off at all? cmanning- A float switch inside the collection container that is normally closed will do the same thing. Basically a reverse auto top-off. Those giant skimmers on RC all have it.
  5. I am glad you got it done. I should have warned you to run it "dry" when you first hook it up. Mine overflowed twice while I was dialing it in. I guess it has something to do with the infamous "break in" period. It looks like it is already pulling some nasty stuff out. Did it open up some room in your sump? Did you run the hole saw backwards? I have heard of people doing that, but I always go forward. BTW I attached the gallery to your post. I hope that's ok.
  6. Sweet aren't we supposed to be "working?" Those are the same stats that surprised me as well. It is frustrating to think that by doing a water change you could be adding harmful things to your system.
  7. I am sure there is a way for ARC to host the file. Looking in your direction Andrew. JK
  8. works for me 3 different computers
  9. NIIIIICE! I was actually thinking about your skimmer last night. Does that make me the obsessive one? I am glad you finally got it. How were the instructions? LOL I am about to mesh mod mine. I will let you know how it goes.
  10. I had the exact same feelings. I took most notice of the salts that added negative things to the water. Some had much more ammonia and phosphates then the rest. I figured that you could make up the things the slat might be missing(mag, cal, alk) with supplements, but dealing with phosphates sucks. Tailoring salt chose to livestock is interesting. However, all aquatic animals benefit from balanced water chemistry and they all suffer if there is a deficiency in certain elements. That being said I have 2.5 buckets of regular tropic marin and will probably keep using it.
  11. I say we round up a ton of purple digi frags. It grows like a freakin weed. Make it the only coral you have in the entire tank. Then get some yellow clown gobys and have a purple and yellow tank. Call it the lorax tank. Dr. Seus is always an winner. I can donate a frag or two.
  12. I think there are two on Reefcentral right now. I bought mine on ebay.
  13. I think it is exactly opposite. The mag350 isn't providing enough flow and allowing air to collect. It may need to be cleaned. I hope someone else chimes in on this because I could be wrong.
  14. Those are sweet fixtures! Your light looks good. If you think it is too much blue you should throw some different color temp bulbs in. Maybe a fiji purple or some 6500K. Aquablues are also a nice white bulb.
  15. Check these guys analysis out. http://www.aquariumwatertesting.com/ Discuss what you think
  16. Sweet! I really like the aquascaping and the tubanaria. Thanks for creating a blog!
  17. Nice work. Did the rods make THAT big a difference? Either way, your tank is looking good. You have given me some ideas for my tank on how to get the rocks more in the shape I imagine.
  18. With pictures now! The decorative netting is awesome
  19. That looks great! Thanks for posting on ARC as well as MAAST. That water change set-up should make things super easy.
  20. Yes gravity will change things. I would shorten the hose yet.
