  1. Anyone experimented with Levamisole as an in-tank treatment for AEFW?

  2. Who else is pumped about the Ags moving to the SEC? Whoop!

Yup, not excited at all. They will forever be the 4th or 5th best team there.

I think you guys are missing the point. Think about the recruiting, think about ticket sales, think about TV coverage. All of these things will add up to an outstanding athletic program long term. Might be a struggle in the near term, but I'm OK with that as it makes strategic sense for the University.

the biggest driver of ticket sales is a winning team. Guess A&M isn't concerned about ticket sales.

  3. Need more realestate for status updates and it's one click away now to post one.

Agree. I liked being able to update via the main screen.

  4. So I ordered a new deal of alk reagent for my hanna checker. Results are around 10-15% different than my old reagent. A bit disappointed, anyone else experience this?

  5. Ecotech Glue is awesome!

It's on my list of stuff to get for my tank. Where did you pick it up from?

I ordered online after seeing Marks review. I had a large colony fall over last night, probably would have gone through at least a tube of epoxy to get it mounted - not to mention the frustration! A generous amount of Ecotech and in 5 minutes I was back in business. It’s worth every penny and thanks for your review Mark!

  6. Would be interesting to keep the current culture going, but I've got another bottle waiting for me in the fridge (I've had for 4 weeks). The plan is to start fresh again for this next culture, perhaps for the one following I will harvest a few pods and see what happens.
  7. Pop Update: I figured I would post once more for those of you still following along. I'm going to be feeding my culture to my tank tomorrow after 4 weeks. I know I ended up with at least 2X the pods I started with, perhaps 3X. I'm going to restart another culture tomorrow and I think I will let it run for a bit longer just to see if the population continues to multiply. Some points: I never had to change/add water to the culture and I did feed conservatively. I spent 1/3 of a small bottle of DT's on my .5 gallon 1 bottle culture of Tigger Pods. And, I fed every few days just enough to tint the water which was a couple of squirts as I mentioned in a previous post (probably more like .5 of a tablespoon). I decided to feed similarly to how I feed my fish: often and in small amount. Obviously the economics are there given the simple setup and minimum amount of phytoplankton required for success. Good luck for those who try it! I know my reef is going to be happy .
  8. I run carbon and gfo in (2) two little fishies reactors and I dose calcium and alk via a dosing pump hourly. I don't have any experience with a calcium reactor but more times than not when I read about people using them online they have a hard time getting them dialed in correctly and end up dosing two part as it's easier to control. If I were to dose organic carbon I would probably try biopellets first and BRS has just come out with their own biopellet reactor which is inexpensive and looks pretty cool. Keep in mind that if you are going to do organic carbon dosing you will not need to run gfo in the long run thus a single reactor for carbon.
  9. Pod update: Babies! I started seeing babies a few days ago; they are really tiny - about the size of a grain of sand. You can get an idea from the picture how small they are, really tough to get a good photo. I've had some die off of the adult pods, hard to say how many but the babies are more than making up for the loss of the adults. Going to give it another week and then I'm dumping it all in the tank . Assuming I do not have a crash by this time next week, I'll call this little experiment a success.
  10. Pod update: My culture is still doing really well. I think I definitely have more pods now than I started with and I don't think I have lost any. I am having to feed more often now, like every other day just to keep the water slightly tented green. I have gone through not even 25% of a small bottle of DT's, and my feedings consist of a couple of skirts of the stuff. Probably equates to about a tablespoon. I want to have an explosion of pods to make this experiment worthwhile (this has not happened), going to give it another week. Hydro how are you doing?
  11. I think I want a frag of your Miami. Where are you located?

  12. lol, that's funny about the fire ants. Mine isn't quite that green...maybe it's time to give the little guys some more food.
  13. I think I'm doing good as well. I have not had any die off of the pods but it's hard to tell if they are multiplying yet or not. I used a very small amount of DT's in my 1/2 gallon mini aquarium I bought, maybe like 10% of the small DT's bottle. Hydro how big is your culture vessel? I'm probably going to add some more DT's this weekend and check water quality, right now it's still slightly green although not as green as when I first dosed it. Little guys look to be happy, quite a few of them are interested in the air stone it seems as they seem to migrate there to hang out.
  14. Yea, Tiger Pods and DT's.
  15. I set up my culture today, not as cool as yours but hopefully it'll get the job done. If nothing else it's something to look at on my desk, wife says that she doesn't like looking at bugs...hehe oh well she'll get over it. I'll let you know in a few weeks how I do.
  16. Great info Hydro. I think I might give this a shot myself as an experiement as it doesn't look too difficult to set something like this up. I too wonder what they mean by contimination, but I would imagine your theory is probably correct. And, I wonder what would be the big deal about adding "culture water" into the display?
  17. Doh, should have check there first! Thanks
  18. I bought a Red Planet frag probably around 5 months ago. It’s a nice frag and has been growing rapidly, but it’s lost all of its green color and now is completely red. I’ve got it directly under 250W MH around 16” from the bulb. I’m not sure which way to go with it, up or down? Has anyone else experienced this problem?
  19. Am I the only one who gets super glue over every-friggen-thing when gluing a frag to a rock/plug? This time I managed to even get it on my son! Sheesh!

I've stuck myself to a door with the stuff.... I got it on my fingers not realizing it, touched a door knob, hung on to it for a second because my mom distracted me, and then got stuck. :(

  21. +1 on adding salt to top off. Get a refractometer and calibrate it to 35 ppt using http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/aqua-craft-refractometer-calibration-fluid.html . "DI water will only get you close. This will make sure you are spot on : ) "

According to ELOS I didn’t. But if you were to ask the diatoms on my sand bed they will tell you otherwise.

Is this a newly set up tank? Diatoms/cyno/brown algae/general yuck can be part of "new tank syndrome".

I love my fuzzy chiton. I got him from RC too and have had him a few months. He has never moved from the rock that he's on, just all around it. He came in attached to an oyster shell that I set on the rock. They move really slow too lol.

I just got 2 fuzzy's. Took them about 3 days to move of the shell. They've got plenty to eat right now.

  24. Let me know if you have a frag you would like to sale.
  25. Thanks for the frags Mike! I found some room . -brett
