I can but it is usually ends up pretty far down on my list of things to do. Like Bio3 and ckyuv said it's actually pretty easy for anyone who has a cordless drill

  4. If anyone is curious, 3 40 breeders fit inside a Nissan Cube :P I think a few employees at Petco were upset that I got them to unload a pallet so I could buy all of the tanks.

:-D Should have told them they needed the practice. Good to know about the Nissan Cube and 40 gal breeders. Think it will work with taller tanks?

      You don't want to drop your phosphates below .03 mg/l P or .092 mg/l PO4.

  10. ok so im at a loss and really PO' ed, i have had a model citizen keyhole angel that has been great for about six months, about a month ago i notced he was nipping at my corals and i started to noticing les polyp extention now he is going to war and some of my prized corals, i have been trying to catch this guy for over 5 days now with an acryilic trap i made, now im afraid im gonna have to tear up my tank to get this guy, with prob 75 difrent corals and had my rocks and coral exactly wher...

I'm not saying your kehole can't decide to start eating corals but having kept a varity of dwarfs with corals for years and never having a problem I would look at other possibilities. Corals can look good for a while then start to decline on their own.

  11. Craigslist people can be jerks, thank god I found this club. Was supposed to buy 200pds of purple live rock for 200$'s. That's what they asked for. Today I'm getting ready to go grab it, and they said somebody offered them 500$. Kind of fishy somebody would give them 300$ more then what they asked 4. Been listed since the 20th too. They said I had the option to match it, or else if the person offering 500$ backed out they would give it to me then.

I've bought and sold and have been satisfied overall with CL but there are flakes out there who seem to get a kick out of seeing what they can get away with. I refuse to accomodate anybody and if i get any kind of wiff of a game or some kind of pity card being played I'm not having anything to do with them. I also have a dedicated email address for CL and won't give out my # right away.

Actually you don't know they got the full $500. Their sales tactics probably did get them more than the $200 though. I posted last year and had a reply "We lost our home in Katrina so can you bring it over and set it up for us and if it looks good we'll pay you" Right! :-/

But what are the lux or PAR readings under the MH and under the LEDs? If there was a lot less light from the LEDs you would have had the same experience if you used a lot less light from a smaller MH. And since we want intensity and spectrum for our symbiotic cyano and dino in our corals a better experiment might have been to get and match lux or PAR readings.

Yes, if the lights are changed and the corals are expanding a lot more they are looking for more light. The cyanodiatom bloom is from the drop in intensity (but in other situations can be from increase)and would happen whether it was LED, T5s or MH used (ie. 250W to 150W) and the cyanodiatom is still there it's just being outcompeted by the corals. In my experience most algae problems will dissapear on thier own but it usually takes months to work through the cycle.

If you change the spectrum and or intensity of the lighting the free floating single cell alga are always going to be the first to respond. You haven't gotten rid of them and it would be interesting to see what happens over a 3, 4 or 5 month period. And it would help to have before and after (and after ;-) ) lux or PAR readings.

I've seen this with improving the light intensity and /or spectrum with T5 and with MH. If anything it argues the BML is better than what you had. What would help is lux or PAR readings before and after.
