  1. The bow is probably made from acrylic heated in a big "oven" and formed. That is how they do it on the show Tanked. No offense Bio but I definitely wouldn't trust sleeping under something like that made by someone who is not a professional that makes tanks for a living. I don't believe resealing a couple of tanks qualifies someone to make something like this.

  2. Brooks,

They are blue agaves. Aqua SD has had them for 30pp. I got mine from a guy in Hawaii. I have about 15 polyps now, they are pretty fast growers. Sorry if this is taking away from your thread, you have a very nice tank.

  3. Not familiar with dimensions. How many gallons would that equate to? I thought u had to do live rock 1.5 how many gallons u have? Does that not pertain to this? I know they need a lot of sand and space to roam, but I thought live rock was an essential.

The 1.5 per gallon rule is such a myth. Kinda like the watts per gallon for lighting. I've never used that much rock. I use maybe .75 pounds per gallon without ever having a problem. You may need more if you are way over stocked. You can always stuff as much rock in your sump as possible to give you more room in your display.

  4. I have 2 of them and absolutely hate them. They did take care of my bubble algae outbreak but they are constantly knocking over every coral that isn't glued down. I have also seen them inside my SPS colonies picking at them. One bit some tips off of one and I know it was him because I was sitting there watching. When I got in to get him, he anchored on so tight to the colony I couldn't get them without serious coral surgery.

  5. With my new business, I am in Houston quite a bit. I stayed downtown last week and decided to go to the Houston Downtown Aquarium. I was very disappointed and quite honestly disturbed by what I saw. The saltwater fish in their reef tank looked very bad. A BUNCH of sick fish and so many with missing fins. Their tanks were full of fish WAYYYY too big for the tanks they were in. They had the biggest groupers I have ever seen all in a tank together with not much room to move around. I believe their fish have outgrown their tanks and they arent doing anything about it. Has anyone else been there recently to see this? Also, it is kinda weird because their anemone tank has some of the biggest nems I have ever seen but there is absolutely no flow in the tank and seems like pretty dull lighting.

  6. I absolutely love the place. I have been there 7 times and already have my trip for this summer planned. It is safe, cheap in comparison to other destinations, and the water is absolutely amazing. We looked at buying a property 2 years ago but decided to wait. We will be retiring there once the kiddos are grown and out of the house. Will be a while though considering we have a 8, 10 year old and a 8 week old. This will be the first trip for the baby and I am really pumped about it. I have a bunch of underwater pics but these are just a few of my favorites. These were all taken at snorkel spots right off of the beach that you could drive to. Please keep in mind, this is a cheap camera in a underwater bag so the water doesnt look as clear and pretty as it really is...

  7. Thanks for the tips guys. I know its not going to be easy but I really would like to keep my livestock. I have one acro that is the size of a basketball and a bellus angel that is 5 years old among other stuff that I wouldn't be able to replace.

Awesome!!! Pics of the basketball acro please.

  8. Cozumel is amazing. You can snorkel in many places and it's nearly as good as diving. Drift diving, wall diving, wreck, cave, ... it has everything.

It really is. I have gone on many paid "snorkel excursions" but have found some hidden gem snorkel spots right off the shoreline that rival any excursion. If anyone ever goes, ask me and I can tell you a really cool spot you can drive to.
