Francie
What type of water can I use in my salt water tank to top off between water changes? Thank You Francie
jestep
I recommend Distilled or RO/DI. There are people who successfully use dechlorinated tap water, but in my experience it's a lot easier running a tank when not introducing nutrient rich tap water into it. jestep
I do not have access to RODI so I will have to use distilled. Thank You If you don't mind hauling, most of the LFS's have RO water for cheap.
Reburn
Investing in 2-5 gallon carboys and getting your RODI water from your LFS will be much cheaper in the long haul. You can also get another 2-5 gallon carboys to just buy premade saltwater for your water changes. Distilled will work in a pinch but I have always found it pricey. LonghornReefer
I have been using Culligan Primo water from wal mart with no noticeable problems or changes in tank chemistry. I treat it with Prime before adding but it's been working well for me. Under $2.00 for 5 gallons.
+etannert
I pay $1 for 5 gallons of RO at RCA, and no need to treat with Prime. They even load the water jugs into my trunk for me!
Gig 'em @ NDstructible
Fiji bottled water. Comes straight from the South Pacific. Makes my corals feel at home. RO/DI is definitely the way to go
