I got lucky with this one. I'd planned on having Niko order one for me but saw they were doing the expansion sale and got a discount! He was very active and once I got him in my QT tank he never once ran and hid in the pvc I've got in there.

Quick update...added a little yellow tang and he made himself right at home. I lost one of the wrasse's...he had to have jumped the other day when I was cleaning the tank and I didn't notice. Pod condo renovations are now complete and ready for tenants. Thanks to KingJames for the work on the acrylic!

Well from the sound of it, it was a one time thing. Looks like filter floss zip tied together and shooken into the display every now and again will have to suffice.

I kno I've said it before but man, your colors are just spectacular. Can't wait to see those frags turn into colonies

Yeah, I'm loving my Kessil's! I had Vega's on the last tank and just couldn't get them dialed in properly. I'll check with KingJames. He's supposed to be working on cutting pieces for me for an ATO reservoir and stand for my GFO reactor.

That clam is tops. First world problem = when your green spongodes is so happy it's PE completely hides it's wonderful green skin so it looks solid burgundy.

Time for some updated pics. First a couple of comparisons then some new stuff. Most stuff went into the tank in early May.

Hard to see on this one but the amount of yellow / green on the background has about tripled and starting to see new growth.

Started seeing STN which stopped as soon as I started running GFO and I think I'm starting to see it grow back.

Now for some new stuff.

Anyone know what this first one is? I was told it was an acan but it doesn't look like the others.

Plumbing is done! Did the dry fit and everything looked great. Cemented the two drain lines and they fit almost perfectly. Got half way done with the return and realized I put one of the 45 on backwards...thank goodness Lowe's is only 5 min away! Water test starts on Saturday!!!

Hi Jimbo662,

Looks like you're running a herbie? I'm planning the same thing and I've got a few questions.

1) I know you mentioned that your herbie drainpipe is cut of at the bulkhead of your overflow box, can you take a pick of your other (emergency) drainpipe? Is it a durso or open pipe?

2) Do you have a link to where you purchased your herbie gate valve? please PM me if its against forum rules to post a link

3) What is the purpose of the grey PVC fixture and valve on your return line? is it a check valve? i may need a link to that too?

4) It looks like you painted the interior of your stand? can i ask what did you paint it with and why? i am planning on keeping the inside of my stand black but wanted a more cleanable surface so i was planning on using something like rust-oleum topside Marine paint black.

Thanks,

Hey Mad!

1. yes, the main drain doesn't have any pipe on it. The overflow box is shallow enough that I didn't need one. The emergency drain is just a straight pipe that's open at the top.

2/3. I bought both the gate and check valve from BRS.

4. I think it was Kilz that I used to help protect the wood from moisture. I went with white so that it was brighter and easier to see in the sump.

I'm placing a BRS order Sunday night, let me know if you want me to order them for you.

Hey Jimbo,

Hey, i'm having trouble following your PVC work. It looks like you use bushings and unions. Can you fill me in on what parts you are using, how they fit together, and maybe where you are ordering them from? I don't see all that on BRS.

Thanks,

Madness

I used standard stuff from Lowe's with the exception of the gate valve and check valve that came from BRS. Here's a pic that shows the best view.

I used threaded adapters to connect to the bulkheads and then unions attached to those. I also attached the unions to both valves in case either ever had to be replaced. One more union just above the return pump so it's easy to get the pump out if I ever need to without removing the entire section of return line.
