  1. Most skimmers like to be in 8-10" of water. I would lower the skimmer to where the out flow is under water it might be causing the problem. Also a brand new shimmer will create a lot of bubbles for a few days, it just takes time to break in. What brand and model do you have?
  2. What kind of skimmer is it? Is it in sump or HOB? If in sump how deep is the water it is in? Have you added anything lately, like a new filter sock?
  3. Is there any way you can take a picture so I can see how bad it is?
  4. If it is just cracked an in one section, yes. I have a shop here in Georgetown that I use for my homes that I can ask to cut you a piece.
  5. Is your sump glass or acrylic? If it is glass have a piece cut and silicone it over the top of it.
  6. Mine runs my tank and was the last fish in. I would not say it is too mean but you can tell that the other fish know to not push things.
  7. I hate thieves. That sux Jake. I will start looking.
  8. Looks like a sponge. I wouldn't worry about it
  9. Just be aware of the possibility of pesticides from rock out of someone's yard.
  10. Pure limestone is OK for base rock. It is not as good as live rock or even dry rock from a reef. It is not porous enough to substantially help with biological filtration. +1 on water changes and minimal lighting.
  11. Tizzite posted pics of his tank in his album, that is what I was refering to. I would like to se pics also. After the last meeting you should be able to post some pics.
  12. Looks like the tank is full what did you use for water?
  13. From what I have read the problem with declorinating products in salt water is that it works from a molecular bond that will beak down in a salt water enviroment. These products will work for fresh water but not as well in salt water.
  14. I might want a few things in a couple weeks. I am on the north west side of Gtown and could get things a little closer to Kempner or Killeen if it would help.
  15. I would use ro/di. This is an expensive hobby. Buy pure water to start your system. It will be worth it in the long run
  16. I changed to the mesh a couple months ago and like them. They are much easier to clean and are the same 200 micron as the felt. I get them from BRS.
  17. Epsom salt is a good cheep source of magnesium sulfate. I would be good to find a source of magnesium chloride also.
  18. Ich is almost always present in our systems. It effects fish that are stressed from their environment. Sometimes from moving to a new tank or new tank mates. It can also be caused by changes in water parameters or temperature swings. My Purple Tang had it after he was in my tank for a few days. He showed no signs of ich when I bought him and I have not had a fish with ich in 5-6 years. I added garlic to the food and fed well for about 2 weeks, everything cleared up and he is doing well.
  19. I have some pink bird's nest that is easy to keep and grows well. 2'x3' for $10. This is under actinic only, my MH are not on yet.
  20. I will take them if you are going to the meeting Sat.
  21. You may want to give the 10K a little more time it takes about 100 hrs for them to reach their full k value. Might not be quite as yellow after that. jmho
  22. You can use a turkey baster to blow it off the rocks and siphon it out or a net for removal.
  23. Splitting shipping is all that we will save. Make sure that you signed up for the buy so that you will have prefered member status from here on. Let me know what you want.
