  1. Go to aquatek, get the 3 blue 3W stunners with the 12v adapter, just use the double sided tape it comes with and you're done.

There are much cheaper options than that if you only want some blue light at night. Stunners are great for actinics with your whites, but you can get something for less than $10 than will provide blue light at night. Additionally, red light actually lets you see more creatures at night. I ran one of these in my Solana for quite a while.

Remember that you'll still want them on a timer so that the tank gets some hours of true darkness each evening.

  2. FYI, if you need gear and large crowds are ok, this is for you. (perfect for picking up items for our Coast Trip)

The Coleman Plant is having a tent sale this weekend. Anything Coleman makes pretty much is out there (bag chairs, tents, cots, life jackets, air mattresses, camping stuff and ice chests, ice chests, ice chests)! The Coleman plant is on FM 306, so if you go down 306 towards Canyon Lake it is on your right hand side before you get to the first railroad tracks.

  3. I'll be marking the count as PAID as I receive payments. I will have to purchase all the tickets a few days ahead of time and have a method to distribute them before the event. I'm thinking we may have two meet-ups (RCA and Aqua-Dome) a few days before the trip in order to distribute tickets. Payments must be received by June 15th to insure that we have enough time to get the tickets and distribute them.

I got prices on ARC SeaWorld t-shirts, and for the dri-fit wicking material we're looking at about $10-12 apiece and should be able to accommodate most sizes.

  4. +1 to what Derrick said. Harsh chemicals are not needed. Once the rock has dried out you can blast it with a garden hose to remove the majority, then let it soak in a bucket for a few days. Each night shake it vigorously and then let it sit again. Once the shaking ceases to release new material you should be good to go.

  5. Please note the updates to the initial post:

    • we must have at least 50 attendees purchasing tickets in order to get the discount
    • tickets must be purchased in advance through ARC (available in the store here)
    • children 2 and under are free. 3 and up need a ticket.
    • lunch will be prior to the tour
    • tour will begin at approximately 4pm
    • admission to Aquatica is a separate charge and is $20 per person

Many people have mentioned bringing friends and family members, so make sure that you post here so we can accurately track the head count.

Tickets are available in the store. ARC Event t-shirts will be available for pre-order in the store once the design contest ends.

  6. As you've all seen, ARC has changed visually since the start of the year. Our new ARC fish logo now graces the site and merchandise in the form of car appliques, shirts, koozies, and coffee mugs. Premium Members are enjoying their new membership cards as well, and the credit for the design and the ARC facelift goes to Kevin Babcock. Kevin continues to work on maintaining a consistent image for the club (check out his Coast trip t-shirt design!) and has been invaluable to me over the last several months. To show our appreciation, please welcome Kevin as the newest ARC staff member!

There's one additional project that Kevin will be assisting us with that I think you're all going to love. I hope to make that announcement at our June SeaWorld trip so keep watching the Club News forum. For now though, let's all take a moment to welcome Kevin to his new position.

    Thanks Kevin, and welcome aboard!

  7. Sounds like cyano to me. Can you easily wipe it off? I've found that a turkey baster is great for blasting it loose and then sucking it up into the baster where you can dispose of it. you can put a filter sock at the top of the tank to blast the baster into and the sock will catch it and return the water to your tank.

  8. They'll bleach out when they get too much of a change in light or if they're kept at a significantly higher temperature than they're used to. I've had two clones do that (one currently) and as long as there are other colored nems in the tank with them they will regain their color. Make sure to target feed it in the meantime to keep its strength up and it should bounce back.

  9. Will the BBQ and the jetty collection trip be on the island (Port A)? Because if that's the case, I might be able to join in. I'll be in Port Aransas for most of July at the UT MSI for school, hopefully my professor will cut me loose smile.png

Yes, both are on the island. Better yet, ask your Profession to come along. :)

  10. I'll swing by on my way to Stephen's on Saturday. Thanks Dena. Sorry to hear about your pup, I know how much all of your kids mean to you (even the new ones). I'm really glad there are people like you out that that help out all furry friends despite the personal pain that it brings.
