  7. From what I've read, depends on what you want to have in your tank. I think you've got the same 26-27" depth I have, so you could definitely go to 400s.
  8. I'm beginning planning for the canopy for my 90g. I have (2)250 MH reflectors, but would like to put T5s in for actinic lighting. I'm looking for a good base design for the canopy and open to input on what you would use for the actinics. Garf recommends 7-10w per gallon, which I calculate as 630-900w of light needed. Less the 500w I have, that leaves a range of 130-400w addtiional. I'm planning to have a pretty good variety of softies, lps, my gbta, and would like a clam or two, while keeping my fish. Thanks!

  10. So who has a tank webcam up, what are you using to run it, and how do you like it? I just found this free service (http://highlightcam.com/) and thought it would be cool to see what the tank is doing during the day. I did see a previous topic where caferacermike pointed out not having a camera in a location that shows if you're home, reflects the front door, etc. Just thought this was a cool thing.
  11. Cut it using sharp scissors. Take the frags and wrap one and a plug or rock in a piece of bridal netting. Make sure that it's not wrapped too tightly and put a rubber band around the net to keep it closed. Put it in your tank. In a few days the frag will attach to the rock. Or get a needle and some fishing line, sew a line through the frag and tie that around the rock you want it to attach to. After a week you can remove the line.
  12. SantaMonica says 2700k is the best for turf. I just picked up a 4-pack of 75w CFL 2700k at Home Depot for $12.
  13. Anyone up for compiling a metal halide primer? I'm currently running T5's but will be running MH in my new 90g. It would be great to have a lighting resource section with a MH primer. Differences between magnetic and electronic ballasts, bulbs, wiring, etc.
