  2. Should be safe as long as it's not one of the big green ones. If you have any smaller fish in with it then keep an eye on them. If one disappears he'll be the primary suspect
  3. Has anyone ever seen baby nems from the spawning though? I know we all hear about a nem throwing clones, but I'm curious as to whether or not the spawn actually produces offspring in reef aquariums.
  4. Glad you're here. Nice nano setup!
  5. Not sure that my GBTA liked it, but I woke to find that it had split this morning. Nems, Nems, Nems....
  6. Good question that I don't know the answer to. Was hoping to get some feedback from other members on if they've seen this, and if so, if it ever resulted in baby anemones. The fact that I have two BTA's in there makes me think that they would both have to do this? I did jokingly tell me wife this morning that our fish looked pregnant and our hermits were sprouting tentacles.
  7. This week I got a new BTA for my 90g tank, my two clarkii clowns had been bashing the crud out of my smaller existing BTA. I acclimated and placed the new one in the tank on Tues and have been watching it move a bit to figure out where it wanted to be. Yesterday evening when I got home from work it looked great and had extended out in about a 10" circle. When I came downstairs a few hours later I noticed that the water in the tank was extremely cloudy. At first I thought it was micro-bubbles, but close examination showed it wasn't. I was able to trash a jet of cloudiness coming from the new BTA, apparently from its foot (though I think it only appeared that way since it was hanging upside down and was behind a rock). I'm currently QT'ing all of my fish in a different tank for Ich treatment, which left just the three as-yet-uncaught fish in the 90. They didn't seem disturbed at all by the cloudiness. It took me a few minutes to realize that it was most likely spawning, so did a quick google and found some video of other btas spawning and it looked the same. I added some carbon and put on a new filter sock and left it for the night. As of this morning the water is clear and the BTA seemed to be okay. I'm hoping everything is open wide when I get home tonight. Anyway, just thought I'd share so that anyone who sees this in the future with their BTA might avoid the initial freak out I had.
  8. Aquadome had a bunch of new equipment in a display case when I was there last week. You might try giving them a call.
  9. I'm in for: Red Banded Pistol Shrimp (Alpheus randalli)Size: .75"-1" $ 19.99 Marble Starfish (Fromia sp.)Size: 1½“- 2½” Notification $ 26.99 Red Spotted Blenny (Istiblennius chrysospilos)Size: 2"-3" $ 29.99 Might add another thing or two but that's it for now.
  10. I'll take one of the purple tangs.
  11. That's a great price on the stand, tank, canopy. My DSA 90g was about $350 on sale and I won't tell you how much I put into the stand and canopy.
  12. If you part i'd be interested in: duncans green manderin 3" Target manderin 3" orange starfish 4"
  13. firefox 3.0.1.5 working fine here
  14. I still have the 29g with metal stand and Emperor 400. A bit smaller than you were talking, but let me know if interested.
  15. I don't use or trust automatic feeders because of past experience with freshwater ones. I take an ice cube tray and put a mix of mysis, phyto, oyster eggs, and pellets in each cube and then add tap water to fill the cube and freeze it. Whomever checks in on the tank is instructed to drop in the appropriate number of cubes to feed the tank. For something as short as a weekend your fish can go without eating. For longer trips this makes it easier than trying to tell quantities to people.
  16. power strip has outlets that are all turned off with a single click, great for a feeding cycle.
  17. Never got a response on my PM, is this still active?
  18. Sorry, for some reason I never saw this. PM me if you're still interested.
  19. I use the diamond wheel attachment. Just be sure to clean it well afterward. I also normally treat the cut corals with a quick dip in lugol's and dose a little vitamin C into the tank afterward.
  20. I'm currently combating Ich and have done all the normal "reef-safe" treatments (garlic in the food, reef-safe ich treatment). I don't want to treat the whole tank and would prefer to remove the affected fish to a QT tank for treatment. However, catching them is a pain in the butt due to all the caves and crevices in my LR. I don't want to destroy the tank catching them. I don't think I would actually try this, but wondered what you think of it: Clove oil to catch fish Basically you could use clove oil to anesthetize the whole tank, remove the numbed fish to the QT, then do a 50% water change. What do you think?
