  1. We can have more than one forum. Lets keep things seperate so that it isn't so we don't have to read lots of stuff we aren't interested in. Have a forum each for feeding, fragging, algae (perhaps one for macro and one for nuisance).
  2. +1 on "FRAG IT!". Let's be original, if possible.
  3. Your tank looks very nice. When can you come do mine? BTW, what kind of powerheads are you getting?
  4. Liz, I am not really using you as a guinea pig but I can always benefit by your experiences and hopefully avoid making dumb mistakes. Question for the group: Will the sand being blown around by the powerheads eventually settle or will she need to re-direct the heads?
  5. Can you just walk in or do you need an appointment? I went there once on a Monday and I couldn't find anyone around.
  6. Liz, why don't you start a blog with pictures so we can track your progress. I may be doing this as well in a few months so I'd like to learn from your experiences. What do you hate about the crushed coral bed? Mark Callahan also suggested that I just replace the CC outside the rock formation. That way I'd have a live sand bed surrounding the CC that is supporting my LR.

    aqua c remora

I have an AquaC Urchin with drain fitting and a MJ 1200. I only used it about 2 months. It is for in-sump use only.
  8. Dave, what didn't you like about the Giesemann Powerchrome?
  9. I may not be the best source but I would do it over a couple or three days at the least, not a few hours.
  10. She can't be my mom, I'm older than she is. By quite a bit actually.
  11. Dead fish release toxic chemicals. That has to be the ultimate in passive-aggressive.
  12. In one place where the address is, you wrote Februrary. Don't worry too much. You're just having a senior moment.
  13. as far as I have been able to tell, the only truly non-agressive fish is a dead one.
  14. I have some nice GSP, I think. It's on a rock a little smaller than my fist. This picture might be a bit large. I can shrink it if necessary. $10 if you come pick up. If we meet somewhere, $15.
  15. what kind of star is it?
  16. I am certainly not in a hurry. Don't rush.
  17. I can't get there tonight. It's pool league night. I can do it tomorrow or tomorrow evening anytime.
  18. I would like to have 2 or 3 of those as well.
  19. I would like a palua nephthea frag. Got a price in mind?

    cortez rays

Minimum recommend pond/tank size for a Cortez Stingray: about 180 gallons or 6' long x 2' wide x 2' deep for a single Cortez ray. For a small breeding group of 2-3 adults at least 360 gallons or 8’ long x 3’ wide x 2’ deep.
  21. And you couldn't tell that by looking at me? I thought the white hair and beard were a dead giveaway. Ooops. I shouldn't use the word dead.
  22. Sure we did. But we used slide rules. I was a reel geek with a circular one that clipped onto my belt. We also thought the sun revolved around the earth and the world was flat.
  23. As I remember, it was fairly difficult to raise the temp on a significant amount of water - even 100 gallons or so. Adding a few gallons (10 or 15) of water at 15 or 20 degrees lower than the original temperature would hardly affect it all. Am I remembering this correctly? It has been 4 decades plus since HS Physics.
  24. I have a question for you. When I was taking physics in high school, my teacher had a standard problem: you have a vat of water at 65 degrees, and into that vat you add an iron ball of some weight and temperature, a block of ice at some weight and temperature, as well as other othings and I calculated the resultant temperature of the water. Do you know the type of problem I am talking about and how to solve it?
