  1. Thank you so much Tim!!!!!
  2. Hi all, Both of my aquariums were getting overrun with Anthelia. I fairly meticulously picked off all I could, used a steel brush frequently, etc. etc. It looks soo much better, but I'm sure you've guess the punchline. Already I'm seeing new little heads pop up here and there. I started trying to pick them off to avoid completely tearing up the tanks again but I'm hoping for a more permanent solution. I thought about trying to squirt some hydrogen peroixde on them. I've seen admonitions that I also kills corals but very few of my corals are really prize corals, so if I lose a polyp here and there I'd gladly exchange that for ridding myself of visible anthelia. Any and all thoughts would be appreciated. Thanxx Bill Brister
  3. Hi Tim, Thanks so much for your feedback. I was hoping you would notice my post. I spent a little time going through some of your vids hoping to see a glimpse of you, unsuccessfully. I am not usually very active but I feel like I have met/seen you sometime over the years possibly at an ARC club meeting?? Anyways, thanks. Bill
  4. Can anyone tell me what this red stuff is and more importantly how to get rid of it. Picture is not good but it is fairly stiff and difficult to grasp and remove. It's also starting to spread more.
  5. Hey thanks, I can kinda see it now. I had not noticed that in the picture it is slightly open. Most of the time it is not.
  6. So I just turned the lights on and I'm just kinda looking things over and suddenly - Did I see that rock move? I watch it for a minute and sure enough it lifts up about 1/8" or less, very smooth like a snail and when something comes close it hunkers down quickly again. One time it closed with enough force that the whole little rock its sitting on, moved slightly. I havent tried to touch it or pick it up. I havent had any clean up or the like, yet, and the only thing I have seen are a couple the little tiny shell-less snails(?). Sorry tmi. Yes it's that coraline covered 'rock right in the middle of the picture. Looks a little like a petrified cicada. Guesses? Bill
  7. oops, just saw your pm page

    Free Rena Filstars

Hello, I would be very interested in the Rena's if they are still available. Thanxx Bill Brister
  13. We flashed down to Port A this past weekend. Along with the seaweed that came in with the tide, there was some long ribbony brite yellow 'stuff', a little briter than yield signs. I have seen gorgonian about this color. On first glance it reminded me of the streamers that used to put on bicycle handle bar grips except not as wide. Most were around 12-18" pretty much flat and possibly 1/8" wide. Firm texture. Frankly I could have believed they actually were sea aged plastic except at the base of the couple of pieces I picked up they seemed to be organically bound to 'nodules'. Sorry, I'm sure a picture would help but I was 1) parked on the beach with no beach pass 2) without a fishing license 3) without any recepticles to bring some back and 4) more strollin' than collectin'. Any ideas? TIA Bill
  14. oops sorry I missed your call Roland
  15. I have corner of my tank that I just keep puttin' stuff. You can have it for cheap. Not great pictures but you can kinda make out there are 4 or 5 rocks with numerous mushrooms on them. Most are painted shrooms, with an occasional red or purple and one rock has a number of watermellons. All rocks $5 each. There are also at least 2 rocks including the one front right that have some brown or 'teal' common palys. These are FREE (1/1) with any purchase. Those hairy mushrooms I love, so they are not in the giveaway group:) I do have some flatworms but we will dip them when we take them out, and they WILL drop off quickly and completely in a 50/50 mix of H2O2 and water. Finally just cuz some folks might be coming over I have this Hawkins Echinata. I don't have any fancy lights to show it off but you can see with my predominately 10-12k t5 lights it is nice pink and teal. I don't know what these are worth any more but I paid $10+ , a while back, for a tiny little piece. Make an offer for the type of piece you would like but I would imagine you would have to see it to really make an offer. I will sell the whole thing but that would be for significantly more than 'a piece'. Sorry, just disregard this if you think it is too iffy (which it probably is). As has been the case for a while I reserve the right to give my 'friends' first dibs over those that have smart phone notifications, but it usually works out okay anyway. Thanks Bill Brister 512/784-4475
  16. I used to have some kribs in a 29. They set up home under a small piece of driftwood on the right side of the tank and I had some other larger Congo Tetras who hung out on the left side. Eventually most of the babies did get eaten, but a few made it. None of the original inhabitants were injured. I would imagine 10 gallon and lower would definitely be more problematic. Bill
  17. oops, wrong category. My bad.

    Free Ballasts

1 is a workhorse 5, but apparantly it is for t8's up to 2 36" long - it's new 1 is a used advance 2,3,or 4 t5 48" - a friend gave it to me as working. I didn't get it to work but I may have had the plug wires wired incorrectly Bill
  19. As Hydro mentions I think trying to set your tank up very level might be key in extending tank life. However, I have always heard that the majority of the weight bearing surfaces are the corners of a tank. I'm not sure that a small bow in the stand would be of significance unless it was at or near the corners. If the stand was warped or twisted, definitely a bad thing. All of you know more about this than me, I'm sure, but no one has mentioned this. One of those 'crusty old managers' once told me that wave machines easily cut the life of a tank in half. 20. Thanks for the merge James. others: I must not have asked enough for the bluish acro. There have been many requests for it particularly. Alas it like will be gone if I haven't 'talked to you already'. Thanks Bill
  21. I'm trying to clean up my tanks and here are a few corals I could do without. Green Slimer - $20 pending - This is 8 or 9 inches tip to tip, has blue tips. The plug broke off so it is just leaning against the rock in the picture. Flat base still there. I originally bought a small piece of this from Mike the dentist. Also in this picture.on the left, is a frag of tri color acro -$10 Pending. It doesn't have any color right now, but I think that is common for a starter piece. This came from Robert and Cindy. Forgot the Name Acro -$25 Pending. I got this from Chad n Belinda and it was about 1/5 the size for $15 or $20, I think it was a semi designer acro??. I thought it was A, insignus but it doesn't look like the picture I just looked up. Tips are light blue. Color is not normally that green, at least under my 10k halides, but this is the actual coral. Dendro - $15 obo. This is a single polyp, not sun coral, probably about half grown. It cam from Scott in RR. It is really mad cuz I have been stirring up the tank all day, so it is not out right now, in the pic. I'll even throw in that little sprig of frogspawn, I knocked off Green Palys - SOLD Brown Green Palys - SOLD I am trying to trade for some urchins with afgun so he will have first right of refusal. I am open to other trades. I am trying to move away from sps but am open to lps, and non brown or green zoas. I am around day and night most days. Thanks for lookin' Bill Brister - 784-4475
