  1. Hi there I am interested in making you an offer. Buuuuttt, I need to know about where you are, either work or home. I live in Leander so I much prefer to make my 'pickups' before 3 or so. If you live further south I can probably pick up next weekend, except for the possible problem with Christmas shopping. So anyways - where do you live/work. I just figured out how to pm you so I will send you my personal info on the profile page? Thanks Bill Brister
  2. I think the answer is 'yes', you need a heater. It's just a matter of whether you use a small heating element which you put in you tank or you use your home H/AC.
  3. Ty Thanks for the offer! I have found a 'new' replacement pump at a good price, so I am going to do that. Thank you though. Bill
  4. Hi Thanks for the response. I don't really know. Apparently the standard 3500 is 350 gph vs 500. How much would you like for it? Thanks Bill
  5. I think my pump has quit working properly, so I am looking for decent, not great, skimmer for a 75 or a replacement motor for an RS 80. Timing is everything, as I just missed that one that sold. OR if anyone has any thoughts about my 'problem'. I can't really see there is a problem, no broken impellar. I cleaned out the venturi and hose, but all it does is swirl water and make a small amount of huge bubbles. Thanks Bill
  6. I am pretty sure those are just three different ways of expressing your Alkalinity reading. I use dKH = degrees of Alkalinty Hardness or something like that, but maybe originally in German? I don't know but as I recall dKH is just ppm divided by 17.9 or thereabouts and the meg/l a different way of expressing the same number That would seem to me to be a good Alkalinity level IF your Calcium is not cratered. If your magnesium is low and Alkalinity is 9.5 my first guess (remember it's a guess) is that your Calcium is very low - below 300? I don't think it is recommended for long term use but you can bring your Magnesium up with Epsom salt. Most of the Reef Chemistry calculators include Epsom Salts as one of the possible additives. It takes a bunch Sorry to patronize but I would also double check your technique on measuring your Magnesium. I use the Red Sea test kit and it seems quite confusing to me. btw IMHO if you have any live animals in your tank a 60% water change can be very traumatic to them as it can change parameters very (too) quickly. BRS order

Just a note for future reference. I know the order is gone now/ On BRS you will see the prices listed 'as low as'. If you get a group buy organized, that 'low' price often becomes your price for just buying one - about a 20% savings. The 10 people don't absolutely positively have to order even. They just want 10 names to start. After that, most of the people just piggy back on 2 or 3 orders, depending on your part of town. The slight downside is, it does take a little longer for a group buy, as the discount prices don't normally get posted untill Tuesday, and you have to 'qualify' before that. I don't know about shipping discounts. Most of the order I was in, in the past DID NOT have free shipping, but perhaps we just didn't make the minimum?? Bill
  8. CPR HOB sold and removed from posting. Thanks Matt!
  9. Thanks Quentin - Good to meet Dave.
  10. 2) 1# Containers of BRS GFO Pellets - $15 Each I still have the Sure Grip 50 Magnet. This has the attachment for a maxijet pump. This can be used for a multitude of things by just gluing this really strong magnet to whatever you want to affix to your glass. $10 Still have the FREE previously mentioned large frag racks and spider reflector with mogul fixture mentioned Here PPU not picked up. The small one is 21x7x7 the larger24 x10 deep x7 tall. (the leg was only missing for the picture). Thanks Bill- 784-4475

    WTB

As Mike said, a little more info would be helpful. If you want one for your 75 I can't help. Smaller my HOB Cpr BakPak might work for you. Bill
  12. I added my phone and address to the original post
  13. Here's some stuff I have and may find a little more. Picked up items removed. 5) I've got 2 1# containers of BRS GFO $15 each I bought this as 4 gallons, measured with a gram scale, and repackaged in some TetraMin screw on top containers. Okay each one really only has 451 grams. This is pretty much to cost to me after shipping. I will eventually use this if not sold. 1) Sure grip magnet . I think this is the 50. I only have the attachment which connects to a maxijet: -Sure Grip link - $10 3)Black Rock Reef Frag Rack - $15 - PENDING WITH MANY BACKUPS Unused. These aren't real big (39 Black Eggcrate squares) but they have soooooper magnets on them. If you let the magnets touch they're just flat out difficult to separate. 4) HM2 Dual TDS meter - In Line TDS Meter - $10 I bought an entire setup from BRS so I don't need this. I am not certain it works perfect, but I bought it from a well known reputable member about 6 months ago (for$25). Heck the Guest fittings should be worth nearly the asking price. PENDING 6) CPR HOB Skimmer - $50 This includes a Rio 800 pump which is only about 2 months old and a prefilter surface skimmer Box. I've noticed with most HOB you get scum floating around on the surface. This helps get it into the Skimmer. It's this one but without the Accela pump. CPR Bak pak 2 FREE: A) 2 4" Ring Material Filter Socks - Felt Filter Sock B) Spider Reflector with Mogul Base - It's probably this one C) PVC and Egg Crate Large Frag Racks - This and D) are large and going to be used in a sump or separate tank for frags. I'll drag them out if you wanna know more but I'm gonna say one is about 15" wide, 6" Deep and 6" tall and D) The other is even bigger - maybe 18 inches wide, 9 inches deep and 7-8 inches tall Thanxx Bill- 784-4475 - 1913 S West Dr Leander 78641
  14. A major problem has been reined back significantly, but he does seem to think the complete solution would be an extended period of darkness. Naturally this would not be good for the corals. As I understand it the dino is not detrimental to corals. I am just worried about hitchhikers. I think you're further admonitions are in tune with the back of my mind. I guess it will just boil down to quarantine tank or no go. I'm leaning towards trying it with a small QT. Thanks for your input. Bill
  15. A friend has offered to give me a good deal on some coral but he has had a significant problem with dinoflagellates. I don't even know what the stuff looks like, but when I look it up it sounds like pretty bad news to fish and sometimes humanoids. Should I pass regardless or can they be dipped. I have some Lugols and have also used that in tandem with hydrogen peroxide. I do not want to set up a QT. Thanks Bill
  16. Maybe this is something else but I thought you were suppose to use styrofoam for something like that. Get a big piece like they use for insulation 3/4-1" thick, cut it the size of your tank, paint edges if desired, and put the tank on the styrofoam. Bill
  17. I'm curious why you are switching, please. Bill
  18. That would have been quite eerie if that was me in the picture. I know them though. This year I believe the smallest pond is closer to 1000 gallons. We do not have any quite as fabulous* as Lost Creek but many are really nice and I believe there is 6 or more ponds that are over 10,000 gallons, including the spring feed pond in Westlake that's 40,000. *Do you remember Lost Creek actually had half a full size tugboat coming out of their fence line, which doubled as their kids 'treehouse'? btw folks - that is someone's back yard, and their two ponds are unpictured in the foreground at an even lower elevation. Bill
  19. Maybe we could ask an op to move us to the group order section, so maybe we can get our 10.
  20. The Austin Pond Society is having their annual pond tour this weekend. Pre-event tix are just $12.50 for the whole weekend and can be bought all around town or online at Austinpondsociety.org. Of course more info is available there also or I will be happy to answer questions here. Bill Brister President, 2010 Austin Pond Society
  21. I am wanting to get some catalytic carbon that was out of stock during the group order. If we could get one or two more and get the postage down to 3 bucks or so that would be great.
  22. I not trying to be rude but you might want to reconsider the hobby. I suspect you have a fair amount of livestock in your tank that is wild caught. Same thing. You just don't know the people who caught it. Bill
  23. Corey Thanks for the offer. It is definitely not my ideal size but may be better than nuttin'. I have no use for any of the other SW stuff. IF you were going to sell the tank separate how much would you want for it. Bill
