  1. Got one project done tonight: Next up:
  2. https://flexpvc.com/cart/agora.cgi?product=2_Flex_PVC_Pipe_3/4_inch
  3. Man, hate to hear it Hula. 2nd Ty's suggestion. As someone who sells software, I cringe when I go to my engineers w/ a customer issue and I get "I dunno...reboot?" as the answer, but it really does work in a lot of situations.
  4. I'm fine w/ the 48" width, but I also only have 48" to work with, so it's a moot point for me. However, I could put a 24" deep tank in the same location and I've definitely wished the tank was deeper, both for overall tank volume and aquascaping. Ideally, I think I'd like a 72x24x24, but again...that's not in the cards at this house.
  5. I would go deeper for sure. My next tank will be 48x24 footprint minimum.
  6. Is this Hammer next to Frogspawn in the top pic? Their stings don't bother one another?
  7. Also had the first sighting of the Rainsford in a couple of weeks - I had written him off. Seems he's living way down under the rock pile in one of the Orange Diamond's burrows. Looked like he was starving so I turkey basted him some mysis. Really hope once the corals start coming in, he'll get out and about more.
  8. Thanks! Yours too Bobby! Not so cute anymore....
  9. I guess so - the ones in the picture 4 posts up. Just going off of what I see, I'm thinking like 1" diameter, but that seems overly tiny and you can't trust fish tank photography!
  10. Wally check-in. Looks like his belly's full.
  11. #urchinsquad Euro style Stabby Ninja I haz all da hats
  12. And now I have my first corals...all from ARC members! Green Star Polyp Hammer Fuzzy Blue Mushroom Pink Bubble Tip Anemone Frogspawn Candy Cane Superman Rhodactis Mushroom Duncan and Candy Apple Palys Metallic Green mushrooms Torch - not looking good. We'll see if he recovers, but that back "pipe" had a head in it the other day...
  13. Just want to point out how great this online community is: A while back, I started a thread asking if anyone knew someone who sewed for a project to create a skirt for my stand, that would be attached by magnets. KimP volunteered out of nowhere, made a test piece, and then the final version, just to do a fun project to help a fellow ARC hobbyist! I'll post pics of the amazing detail and precision when I have a bit more time, but here's the end result: Before: ...............................................................After: Bonus: I found out Kim and I are fish stepparents as she picked up the other Potter's Wrasse so we've both got beautiful sibling fish! Thanks a million, KimP!
  14. I'll let you know if they get out of hand. Very cool to see though - neat to have a completely different eco-environment in the fuge from the tank. Never had one before!
  15. Baby starfishes all over the fuge - must have seen a dozen:
  16. Oh, Kim - it looks like the chaeto you gave me is finally starting to take off in the fuge! Think I'm starting to see some growth - thinner strands w/ no mini-dusters. For a while I was wondering when it was going to get moving!
  17. OK...note to self: Buy Alk test kit Bought 2 30gal barrels last week just to make it water changes easier, so no problem there.
  18. Wally is a little cutie! He's still around, I just can't tell if he's eating or not. Do you recall how deep the water level was on those Bubble Mags? Were they BM5 models?
  19. On to coral... I purchased a bunch of coral from Wes and he's holding it for me for another week or so while I hope to make sure my tank is ready for corals. Biggest issue was the algae, but I think I'm on top of that now. Gave the rocks a good scrubbing about 10 days ago and it's just now starting to try to make a comeback. Hoping the 2 urchins, Kole Tang and Starry Blenny can do work and keep it under control. I'd love to solve the skimmer riddle before I pick them up next week, but I think that's the only outstanding issue today. What's coming: Frogspawn (softball) Torch - 3 headed (racquetball) 6 Metallic Blue Mushrooms Superman Rhodactis Mushroom Candy Cane colony - maybe 7-9 heads? Pink Bubble Tip Anemone (2") Hammer Coral (racquetball) GSP rock (4" diameter) Wanted to get relatively easy to care for and hardy corals, and and wanted to get some that had 1) been around for a while and 2) weren't tiny frags, so I think I'm in good shape overall. What do I need to do to make sure the tank is ready? Anything specific I should be testing for? Time to start dosing something (all I have now is Kalkwasser)?
