  1. Vernon had 3 of these for sale. 600 ea . He moved to Fla. You you could try to PM him. I know he came back here once this month.
  2. You can always try Aquaculture ranch and see what he has to sell.
  3. I was at the Aqua Dome today and saw some red micro algae in with some chaeto . I dont know if its a type of Gracilaria. You could call and find out .
  4. +1 on the live food when all else fails. White worms are my go to. The only fish that wont eat them is my lawn mower. Only eats hair algae for some reason. Didnt eat for 2 weeks in QT
  5. Im in Wimberley and im taking down my 55g tank that i used for observation. It is in the garage and its getting too hot. I have a tennis ball sized piece in it and a few misc snails and mini blue leg crabs if you want them for your fuge.
  6. I dont see a problem with the chiller plumbing, unless the pump is under powered. I think once you have the return set so some water goes thru the chiller at all times the pressure out of that line should remain constant as long as you dont mess with the ball valves. Disclaimer: Im just a hack
  7. I just put 4 new water bottles in the freezer. Chiller maintenance done :))))))
  8. I use a Geo's reactor. Smith gauges, Milwaukee ph controller and the 957 solenoid set up. It is "not" hooked to my apex. Was great on my 125g. Now its working on my 500g. In the beginning you need to test Alk and Cal a lot. Once you have it dialed in you just look at the ph of the probe to be sure it has not moved, media in reactor (to be sure its not empty) and drip rate of the affluent. No more mixing / dosing mess. This time I added some neo-mag to the reactor, so I dont have to dose mag. Just my opinion
  9. Im in on those if ya find um
  10. Wow great stuff Now if i could just get my camera to take those types of shots

No, not the same . That will counter the ammonia. Something like this is needed. http://store.drtimsaquatics.com/search.asp?keyword=ammonium

    Need advice

If it was me I would to dose it with some ammonia. Maybe 1ppm and see if I got any nitrite or nitrate after a day or 2. I find it hard to believe there is no bacteria in the tank.

We are looking for numbers ; Ammonia Nitrite Nitrate What were they last week and what are they today. Did your rock stay wet? Not under water just wet? You added Bio booster did you add any flake food or food source for the bacteria?
  14. Just a comment. Instead of a needle valve I use a a plastic block with a thumb screw. I have never had this clog. I use a fast drip stream. You cant count the drips. Geo's had these but not sure if they are avail anymore.
  15. Using old dry sand might be an issue. There will be a lot of dead stuff in there. You can rinse it "a lot" . I triple rinse new sand. Tap water will work fine. Then you can stick it in a bucket of fresh rodi water with salt. Test it every few days and see what you have. If you dont have any ammonia or po4, you should be good. Cycle it with some bacteria and ammonia or some live sand or rock if you have it. I have never cycled sand.
  16. Cyanobacteria and bryopsis. I want to get rid of the cyano and "not" the bryopsis. The lawn mower keeps the bryopsis in check and I dont want him to starve. I have started to vac and blow off the cyano. Reduced my lighting intensity. It grows best in good light. The po4 is dropping, went from .06 to .04 in a month. Nitrate is a constant "1". Mag has risen to 1500 with the addition of zeo-mag in the reactor. I have a basket in my overflow with red and green algae and a grow light on this. Any suggestions?
  17. I agree. Its going to be hard to raise them fast enough to keep up with demand. Here is good info from another forum. Post #7 and #9 will help you. http://www.thereeftank.com/forums/f6/how-to-tell-if-you-have-enough-copepods-182906.html https://www.nano-reef.com/forums/topic/379686-how-many-pod-cultures-for-mandarin/
  18. If you have an Oceanic Biocube they have a built-In refugium chamber. You can place them in that with some micro algae.(chaeto)
  19. Sounds like "Salt Kreep". The cause is splash, bubbles or something that agitates the surface water. When it drys you are left with salt. You are notice this now because it is drying faster being close to the window. You will need to keep the water from splashing on the rim. Or seal the back so the moisture stays in the tank.
