  9. Ty, I got one of each of these two frags. They're doing really great, thanks. Do they have names?
  10. Thanks for the calculator! Now I can go empirical. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  11. I hear you, just an irrational guess because I probably shouldnt believe the alternative haha Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  12. [emoji1] Right!? Speaking of salt.. I use IO. Not sure what you use. Do you find that the ratio of salt to water, all amounts being equal from mix to mix, always yields the same salinity? I find it takes more and more salt to achieve 1.026. Sometimes I just feel like I'm being swindled, but suspect it might have to do with humidity getting into the salt.. I dunno. Maybe it's my imagination. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  13. Lots of interesting tidbits here, like the Shedd Aquarium uses Instant Ocean.. https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2018/11/how-landlocked-aquarium-gets-10-million-gallons-ocean-water/574681/?utm_medium=offsite&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=new Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  14. Glad to hear it! Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  15. Agree. Also would be key to understand which mutations in its genotype are markers for the stress response that causes expelling zooxanthellae. Would be important to isolate the conditions and factors that trigger it across species. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  16. Daily Mail: Could our reefs be saved after all? Weed-like cauliflower coral has evolved unique immunity genes. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-6346705/Could-reefs-saved-Weed-like-cauliflower-coral-evolved-unique-immunity-genes.html Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  17. Right?! They're cute. It's too bad they're a scourge. They actually gave me a nightmare last night haha. I absolutely could not believe my luck that this was such a small piece of LR. Not counting my blessings just yet! Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  18. Got them out. I was sooo dreading the disruption to the tank, the nutrients released by the sand bed, the broken SPS.. This small rock lifted right out [emoji106][emoji41] Now to see if they pop up anywhere else [emoji15] Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  19. Cut the PT loose day before yesterday. Thetables were turned. The YT got after the PT for a bit, they went back and forth for about 24hrs, and now everyone's fine. It worked. [emoji846][emoji846][emoji846] Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  20. Ugh.. that's pretty disconcerting. It's interesting. They turned white overnight. Hoping they've died. There were some changes in conditions in that area associated with a fish cage I'd put in the tank for a couple of weeks to isolate an aggressive tang. But I just removed it the day before they turned white. That's a complete stretch, so not getting my hopes up in any way. Not seeing them anywhere else in the tank so I'm still planning to replace the piece of LR if possible. Can't mess with it until Friday though. Might physically pull the bits I see tonight though. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  21. Thanks Sascha. I can't take chances at this stage, so I might go nuclear and just replace the rock. Such a shame it's a big, unique piece of Fiji, but you've gotta do what you've gotta do. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  22. If so, it doesn't sound like something I'd want to let take root.. Hmm. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  23. They're not really known to bother corals, but i never say never. They don't bother my softies, LPS or SPS. There are videos out there on how to make bristleworm traps out of a plastic water bottle and straws, if you want to try catching some. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  24. That kind is beneficial for detritus removal. There are definitely bad ones though. And too many could also be bad. I can't keep any tiny fish like scooter blennies in my 150 because - I believe - the bristle-worms get 'em at night. I recently posted an article on bristle worms.
