I like this link better.
With respect to Caulera Prolifera, my drawf angels devour it. I like the way it looks in my macro lagoon. Not having succeeded with Turtle Grass, yet, I find C. Prolifera very attractive in the aquarium. I will experiment with this as a dehydrated veggie chip. I left some under a light canopy after doing in tank chores. When I found it the next day, I enjoyed the salty plant flavor.

Patrick that would be great! I dont have any of that stuff yet. Would you like me to bring a handful of the red stuff that melted away, or some dragons breath? I have TONS of the dragons breath right now, more than i know what to do with LOL

I've been thinking it was something else this whole time. It does well in the tank :-)
-
Is that the real thick dark blue branch that my frag came from?
-
Awww they're so cute :-) about how big are these guys?
-
Might be willing to let one go after another week or so to make sure its firmly attached they aren't very big though, these were my experimental frags, the crown area is about an inch long, but the frags seen to grow very quickly :-)

Thanks, even though i dont think most people like the prolifera, i think it looks gorgeous. i prob wouldnt put it in the DT though unless i was doing a mostly-macro type tank. im a sucker for red macro, or any other color too that looks pretty, or has an interesting shape. i got this one from the dome, it was there for a few weeks and was already eating well. he eats pellets and frozen food in my house no probs. supposedly they can stress out, die and pollute the tank real bad, so i jumped on this guy after i heard he was eating and doing well.
oh, and i found out my two new yellow fiji frags have attatched to rubble pieces, i was very excited to see them doing so well

LOL Bill, much to my surprise the eel hasnt tried to eat either of my shrimp yet, theres a coral banded in this tank too. i doubt he would try to eat the coral banded unless he was starving, that shrimp is pretty mean. he would only go down claws pinching! i picked this eel up real late, got home late after a long drive, we were tired and hot, and didnt even think about my fire shrimp being in there with the eel until i saw the shrimp jump on the eel and get to work. So far so good, although i am prepared to not see the shrimp in there one day.

Very cool! I want a huge clam like that!

Ive gotten some new fish to put in my tank, a zebra eel and a cowfish. The eel seems to have bonded with my shrimp, i frequently see them hanging out together in the same places. The cowfish was supposed to go in a friends tank but after seeing how slow moving he really is hes stuck in my fuge for now. hes a friendly little guy, i love him!
another pic is of my pectinia, i think i can finally see some growth on it, ive only had it several months lol.
the other pic is my first yellow fiji leather frag doing great, i think its about doubled in size already. since then i have cut two more frags, i dont think they have attatched to anything yet but the skin around the cuts is healing and their polyps are always out. the mother colony is already healing and i can see new polyps starting to grow. this is my little pet project to see if i can successfully frag it, its probaby my fave leather and they dont have a very good survival rate from what i hear.
hope yall enjoy!

yep its a spawning event, ive seen my pincusion do it before. pretty neat to watch!
-
Awh I was just in Austin recently, had I known you were fragging the other corals I would've stopped by! That blue digi is still one of my faves lol.
-
Those all look great! The stuff I got from you a while back is all doing great still, my fave was that potato chip coral. Its a pretty quick grower too!
-
You dont have the red stuff anymore Patrick? The red tang heaven macro is slow growing, the other red one i got from you is quicker than that one and will turn a dark orange color if i have intense enough light on it. Its been doing pretty good for me, although those two are not as quick growing as the prolifera, which i also have, or the dragons breath. Sometimes i think those two can grow inches a day. At one point in time i had a few very small chunks of feather calurpa but something in my tank ate it, i havent tried the prolifera as i dont want it to possibly take over the dt. I want to get a bigger tank as the fuge and turn it into some type of sea grass bed maybe with some NPS gorgonia or something neat looking. I have a cute little baby cowfish down in my fuge right now that makes it alot more interesting, saw some pretty pipefish at the dome today that i would prob put down there too if i can find a good tank to upgrade to

Subsea Ive put some of that red macro that you gave me in a tank with a 12k and actinic bulb, and it lives but just doesnt seem to want to grow. I believe its just the lighting that it doesnt really like that much? It doesnt seem to be a problem in my fuge and sump with those 51k bulbs, both are full of macro right now. When using the blue and white leds, how do you know what kelvin it is?? All they say are blue and either cool or warm white when you buy them.
Woods i love the dragons breath! That stuff is filling up most of my sump right now. I just cut it up and have tons of pieces of it now I just bought some shaving brush plants to see how they will do. Im really getting into this macro
-
so, I've been growing macro very well under the 51k bulbs from lowes in the fuge, but I'm curious to see if anyone has success growing it well under your more typical reef lighting, ie, 12k or higher?
-
that sounds cool, any chance you got a pic?
-
same exact thing happened to me when i bought the refractometer, was trying to keep then around 1.024-25 but i think my highest was at 1.031 . its definitely a must when you have a sw tank
-
Ahh, i never saw the article thanks for the link. I was curious about it since last time we were there they were in the water with them and the show was alot longer. We got to see both of the beluga and dolphin shows, they were great!
-
Ok, thanks for the info! it sure looks happier now that its gone, its mantle is fully expanded again.
-
thanks for organizing the trip and the tour, we had a great time! i loved those corals they had in the back and the ray touch tank. anyone know what was going on with the shamu show - the trainers now getting in the water with them anymore?
-
Hmmm. I didnt see the feelers or tentacles on it, i only saw the broken shell. i showed the link to my husband and did a google search for pics, but he said thats not really what he saw. before i got the first clam i did look for any pests but didnt see any. i did not dip them either cause alot of people were talking about how stressful it is on the clam. it was at the lfs for weeks before i got it, it always looked happy.... If it is one of those snails, are my clams doomed?
-
idk, i dont think it was a snail, if it was it was a tough one to get off! the shell of this thing looks like a spiral type shape, and it was actually like fused onto the shell of the clam. we actually broke apart the spiral shell into little pieces and this creature was living inside his little spiral shell. it was fairly large, the clam is around 3-4in long, so im guessing the little shell thing was between 1/4 - 1/2in long...? we have barious little barnacle things and filter feeder type creatures everywhere in the tank, but ive never seen one like this before, or this size. i hope its not parasitic

Apparently i cant attatch any pics... lets try this instead
