  1. they are super hardy! and grow very quickly if fed. mine survived after to attatched itself to a heater in a sumpless tank....i let it heal up and then rehomed it. its doing very well their tank too.
  2. I use the $1 turkey baster to feed the fish and/or acclimate, use baking soda to adjust alk, and pool phosphate remover to get rid of problem algae if the need arises. Great thread btw! I'm always looking for cheaper stuff to use on my tank that works just as good or better than expensive store bought stuff
  3. Welcome! I'm new to this club but so far this has been a very friendly and generous bunch!
  4. This its gonna be awesome! Can't wait to see it with water already lol
  5. that is cool, looks like a red frogspawn. so it attatches itself to a rock?
  6. that sounds like fun, ive never been to a fish related meeting!
  7. That would be awesome! Ill shoot you a pm if i can Mframe, im gonna mark the meeting on the calender and hopefully be able to mak it. Does everyone typically bring frags to meeetings?
  8. Anyone have a frag or colony of one of these they would like to get rid of this weekend?
  9. Sure, most of mine are juvies, about half size right now. When they get closer to full size i could let you know?
  10. Poor guy :-( i wonder if it was the ich that did it. If i recall correctly the ich had not been visible for at least a week when i saw the dark spots. The good thing is he's alive, i really thought he wouldn't make it, he looked terrible.
  11. I have a tank full right now that I've had for a while. Just give them plenty of hiding spots and get several adults to start your colony. Feed them and leave them alone and you will have tons in no time lol. My shrimp tank has some moss, a piece of dw, a sponge filter and a chunk of lava rock. Simple :-)
  12. Long story short, my poor bannerfish had a horrible case of ich that i finally got under control. Sometime during the treatment, he developed some darkish spots in the middle of his dorsal fin, then the next day the skin on the fin along with the dorsal ray disappeared. He's back to normal now and back in the dt, which he seems VERY happy about. He's still cute with his little knub, but i was wondering if he's gonna be "unique" forever or if you guys think it might grow back. Thanks in advance, i think i attatched a pic of him, let me know if it doesn't work...
  13. That sucks, idols are one of my favorite fish. Originally i got my bannerfish because they are similar in appearance and hardier than the idol and i didn't wanna kill an idol. But the bannerfish is awesome, i had to beg my husband to let me buy him, he didn't really like him at first but he's been won over by him lol.

  22. Man he's awesome, you're making me want to buy one. I kept my bigger tank without corals for a long time cause heni. Acuminatus is supposed to pick at corals, supposedly the ones with small polyps. Mine hasn't touched anything...yet. Next I'll try the nepthia and Kenya trees.....So far he has left my toadstool and mushrooms alone. I'm slowly putting more corals in there to see what he will pick at and what he leaves alone. He does like to pick at my hermits and my fire shrimp occasionally, but having him in my tank is SO worth it. He's by far my favorite fish!
  23. He's beautiful, they look so exotic
