  1. Does this piece look like any of the captive colonies that are named? The tank has been growing frags very well for a while now so I thought it was time to try a wild piece. And I wanted it because it looks awesome. This piece came from Fiji. Hope it does well.

  2. DIY leds here, no mh or fluorescent bulbs for me. Mine are from Steve’s leds. My husband puts it all together and just mounts it in the canopy, or strips the bulbs and ballasts from a t5 fixture and installs them in there. They work great for me, been over a year since I got the first tank switched to leds. They're kinda pricey at first, but well worth it when it hardly uses any electricity, doesn't put off a bunch of heat, and I don't have to replace bulbs every year, or more

  3. I picked up a cowfish from the dome earlier this year, he's doing great. Low flow, no tank mates that eat all the food before he gets a chance to eat, no aggressive tank mates to pick on him. Make sure it eats well before you buy. Really cool fish, very cute and personable, I love mine

  4. So i was sorting through my fuge because it was looking very cramped, and found this large beautiful chunk of macro! last time i chopped them up they were only about golfball size, now its about the size of both my fists together. i am not sure where its final placement will be, but for now it looks pretty good :) There are no emerald crabs in here to eat the stuff anymore since my eel ate them lol. The pretty bright marroon color really draws the eye and adds some flare in my otherwise purple and green tank.

  5. the tank is 34gals. most of the rocks are coveted with polyps, and theres a clownfish that sleeps in the zoas lol. i would like some diff zoos or palys to put on the bare areas, not sure what ill get though.

btw i cant not have a tank in yhe bedroom, its very relaxing! lol

  6. picked this up off a couple moving out of town. i liked it alot so decided to keep it instead of parting it out and selling it. it had a large blue pectinia and a pagoda cup frag that i moved into my big tank, and i added a nice chunk of dragons breath at the top to hopefully help with nutrients. next i think i want to install leds with moonlights instead of mh's. the fish and shrimp are mia when the cam comes out, hope you enjoy :)

  7. its typical to loose frags when you frag them, unfortunately. i keep mine to a minimum by keeping them in the same tank next to the mother colony until after they heal up. but most coral is hardier than we think ime.

pbnj, maybe we need to bug you for frags of your hammer lol! got any pics you would like to share? interesting note on the frogspawn, i wonder why it hasnt grown?

  8. how would you frag a wall hammer? saw chunks off and cut the skin carefully? typical hammers grow quick in my tank.

they are real pricey, i saw an orange tipped frogspawn today listed about the same price as an orange hammer, about $120+ shipping. wonder if a few of us could chip in, buy a good sized piece, cut some frags, let them heal, and share it that way?

  9. i have only recently started seeing the orange hammers being sold, and i fell in love! are they all wall hammers, or are there any branching ones? anyone here growing this coral out and feel like letting a frag go? biggrin.png
