  1. ok I got them eating something and now I see this weird spot on the face of one of my horses. Ill try and get a pic up tomorrow as my lights are off but im hoping its not vibrio. I looked it up and so far doesnt look like the pictures im seeing but maybe this is the begining of the infection. Im seeing a red spot on the side of the head with a few white-yellowish pimples on the sides. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  2. I'll probably get roasted by other horse keepers but the eel grows to be only about a foot long. I've kept these eels with gobies and other small fish with no problems at all as they were quite content with ghost shrimp frozen mysis and table shrimp.
  3. One of the new horses! Thanks to the guys at RCA!
  4. hermits will flip snails and eat them live or even if the snail falls over and cant get back up. Try rubber banding some nori to a small rock it should last a little longer.
  5. A little about my tank. Its a 100 gallon with about 200lbs of rock. Its lit by 2x150w hqi and 2x130w pc. I have a 55 gallon sump running a euro reef cs8-1 skimmer and a 1/3hp chiller temp is kept between 78-80. using a mag 12 as my return and also run a tunze wavebox. Just added 3 tiny chromises along with my 3 tiny firefish. Im also waiting for my golden dwarf moray eel to come in. Sounds like im taking things a little fast but 1/4 of the rock my sand and 2/3 of the water are from my reef before I redid the tank.
  6. +1 for the stars I had 3 brittle stars and 1 harlequin serpent star and they took care of any left overs the fish didnt eat
  7. thank you. I wish I had a camera of the rebuild it was quite fun
  8. thanks! Its a mix of foam and rock. I have one little firefish in there right now and just bought a golden dwarf moray eel which should be here thursday! Then im probably gonna lay low for a little bit and let my system catch up to handle the bio load.
  9. ok so I didnt have a camera during the rebuild but here it is after the cycle has finished
  10. I usually suppliment with nori. They come graze on that then go back to grazing on rocks.
  11. if the hermits are starving maybe the snails are too?

    Nori

I usually buy mine from the mt supermarket on lamar for 1.99. Most hebs sell them in their asian sections.
  13. interesting read on the worms. I found a worm very simular to the eunice in my rocks while I was drying them in the sun for my rebuild. It was about 8-10" long and was quite scary if you ask me.
  14. oh and make sure you dont try and unplug stuff when outlet or yourself is wet...you'll be in for quite a shock if you do. I sure do love gfcis

  17. ill take some! If Polarbear doesnt that is since this is his thread
  18. we had the tank for years. The center brace fell off but we didnt think anything of it and one day during the middle of the night we heard a crash and rushing water and 150 gallons of water, glass, gravel, rocks, and fish all over the floor. A couple of the fish made it but whhatever landed on sharp glass was gone.

If your ever interested in selling either or let me know! I wont be ready for a couple weeks but would love some when I am. What kind of horses are they?
  21. Try 150 gallons and everything else inside spilling out due to the front pane falling and crash landing all over...that was quite a mess. Then a 60 gallon being broken by your little nephew who decides he likes throwing D sized batteries at fish...
  22. very interesting. Would love to see how this turns out. I love ogo! used to eat the stuff all the time in hawaii along with poke and opihi same with palahalaha or ulva. would be interested in buying from you if you ever needed to thin out.
  23. interesting. My anemones always grew large within short periods of time. I had a ritteri double in size within 3-4 months and didnt split until 2 years later. Would be nice to have an anemone stay small.
