  1. Ok, I've updated the list but it turns out Inland Reef already has a few people on a list he was starting when I inadvertently stepped in to the coordinator role. So from here on out please PM Jason (Inland Reef) for your BRS group buy participation.
  2. Ok got myself and Warren on the list. Need 8 more people to PM me their last name and email address on file with BRS. I'll submit it on 8/1 and we should all get emails mid afternoon by 8/2.
  3. Alright. Well if we want to make this official I'll have to get everyone's last name and email address used at BRS. That way I can submit the proper 'paperwork'. Since submissions are due on Monday, today won't work unless we get more folks involved. So lets set it for August 1st submission date, and August 2nd we'll get our group buy status unlocked whenever they get around to it?
  4. Yes it would be ideal, but at the same token I'm not ordering enough to qualify for free shipping whilst merging orders would get us there. I am already a 'preferred customer', and the deeper discount for the group buy would work on one item I want. So if we can make it happen so be it.

Any updates? I saw you pulled your 55G off sale to use it as a QT.
  6. Well we're half way to a group buy. (Need 10 people). We could line it up to start 8/2 if we have enough interest or just pool together a big order and divvy up when it arrives.
  7. I'm being told it's name is Bob.
  8. Man I missed brisket tacos? I shoulda sniffed around more.
  9. Yeah I think so. I was in front of you buying 3 buckets of salt and 120 lbs of sand at the register.
  10. Was that you behind me buying salt saying your wife was off buying critters?
  11. Whew that was a madhouse. Glad I'm home already.
  12. Where did ya guys go? Big line now.
  13. Eh I'm not losing that much sleep for $50 bucks off a wrasse or firefish.
  14. Indeed. what's so cheap that you need to camp out 12 hours before they open?
  15. Better. I actually cut out the droopy part which turned out to be skeleton that broke free from the main bunch. Since the skeleton was hanging under the skin it was causing the skin to stretch and tear. There's a big gaping hole where that lobe once was but overall it looks MUCH happier. Hoping to see the flesh heal together with time. I do have a couple of lobes that are starting to stretch out and multiply. So I guess it's not too unhappy.
  16. I'm unsure of that, but there are plenty of warnings out there about mixing medications. Here's what SeaChem says about using Cupramine with Prime. Q: I've been dosing with Cupramine™ and then I added Product X and everything died. What happened? A: If Product X is a reducing agent such as ParaGuard™ (or other aldehyde based medications), or if you overdose with a dechlorinator, such as Prime® then the Cu+2 will be reduced to Cu+. Cu+ is 10 times more toxic than Cu+2. So yes in this case I'd avoid using Prime and Copper together. Any reason you don't want to treat via Hypo? You may want to look up particular fish and sensitivities to Copper. You may not even be able to treat your fish with it, I'd have to look over your fish list again.
  17. Feed them regularly to make sure a) they are eating and b) they are staying fat/healthy. I'd soak their food in Garlic and Selcon or Zoecon to help keep their immunities up. As far as the babysitting procedure.. I don't think that exists. Just don't OVERFEED and cause nitrate issues. *edited: Keep some Seachem Prime on hand to detoxify ammonia/nitrates especially if you aren't working with a cycled QT.
  18. LR won't survive Hypo treatment and if you use copper you'll kill anything in the LR and you'll never be able to use that rock in your DT again. You need the tank as bare as possible with the exception of places for your fish to hide (PVC pipe or flower pots or whatever you choose)
  19. It'll precipitate out at some point. I would imagine the precipitation would not be good for whatever it happened to land on.
  20. 20 bucks for 32 oz of Alk and Ca isn't bad I guess. But $40 (BRS) for 3 gallons of Alk and 3 gallons Ca and 1 gallon of Mg seems like a better deal. I'm not sure if they have the "trace elements" or not.
  21. bare bottom is good. a cycled tank is ideal, if you don't have something cycled if you can take some filter media (filter floss, sponge, whatever) from your DT to add some bacteria to the QT that'll certainly help things along. Make sure you aren't running carbon if you plan to do any medication dosing. I don't think it matters with Hypo. Get some PVC pipe from HD/Lowes that's big enough for the fish to hide in. I use PVC Tee's and elbows. This gives the fish places to hide to destress if they are getting picked on by another fish in QT with it. A powerhead or airstone to give some movement to the water is advisable as well.
  22. Calcium over 520? That's uh.. unusually high. Typical ocean calcium is 420ppm. http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-05/rhf/index.php Most reef tanks are betwene 380-450 ppm. I think last time I tested mine was at 480.
  23. Wacky way of doing things how so? You mean the baking soda? That's just Sodium Bicarbonate which is what ESV and BRS uses for Alkalinity. *shrug*
