  1. Is your light the Coralife lighting fixture? If so, I noticed a big difference with my zoas when I added some LED strips in addition to the fixture. Eventually I removed the fixture all together when I got 3 strips and everything is doing so much better. Unfortunately, my zoas had almost all died off, but 1 polyp eventually became a colony again (amazingly!). I thought something was eating them, turns out it was bad lighting.
  2. Today the power went out at my house. Expected down time was enough to kill everything in my saltwater tank. At discovering this, I told my bf "well, I'll just pray for my fish then." At that exact moment, the power came back on. I seem to have a direct line to the Almighty today, so if you need anything, please let me know.

  4. Wonder if you could throw a cleaner shrimp in there with her? I swear by them only because they saved my goby...
  5. Throw a cube in on the last day! I've read on here about fish surviving for 8 days, mine have been fine after 4.
  6. She is AMAZING!!! (and only 11!!) Wow. You know, America's Got Talent will be in Austin in January - she oughta give that a shot.
  7. My emerald crab has eaten all of my asterinas. Or that flatworm has...

The flatworm is more of a Snail eater from my experience with the one I had. I would put the bet on the Emerald.

  8. Sorry to hear it -- was following your thread because I had the same thing happen to me early on. You'll want to do a water change right away if you can.
  9. Network Solutions has some great templates that are real easy to use...that is if they'll be hosting the website too.
  10. Try craigslist. I sold a 55 on there within minutes of posting it.
  11. Trap set for the polyclad flatworm!

You should be able to take the rock out and let it sit in RO water for 20 minutes.

Trap baited with fresh (previously frozen) shrimp and scallop did not work :( I wanted to avoid taking rock out because it has a few zoas and tube worms..may just do it though. Thanks.

I think the zoas will probably be fine if you dip the rock in fresh water.

  12. The cyano I have dealt with had to be siphoned out - I could've never pulled it out with tweezers which makes me think maybe you were removing coralline algae -- my coralline starts off red and then turns pink.
  13. Well it turns out I had bought resin and micron filters, not the membrane - lol! Replaced all, 0 TDS
  14. (LOL Dave) Yep, 170 current reading of water going in. Is the 20 tds water ok to use? If not, I'll just dump my jugs out...on the lawn. Thanks!!!
  15. I may have misspoke when I said membrane - I just bought an extra filter (the top horizontal part - if that's the membrane) of a 3 part diagonal system. The tds meter can read in and out. Normally in is 175 - I haven't checked it yet, I will and report back.
  16. Hey there!! Have a quick question regarding a recent TDS reading on my RODI water. Normally it's 0 or 1, but yesterday it was 21. Does this mean I should change the membrane? (I do have a spare ready.) The unit has been live since February. Also, I thought Mark posted something about TDS going up in Texas water due to the draught, but I couldn't find it. Is 21 water still ok to use? Much thanks!! -E
  17. So according to those results, if you were to use, say INSTANT OCEAN salt and do a water change - could your nitrates go up?
  18. I had planaria at one point and then they all disappeared. I think my watchman goby ate them - I saw him eat a baby bristleworm the other day. (That actually concerned me, because it irritated his gills.) He'll eat anything, I've named him Mikey.
  19. Sorry to hear about that - I'd be losing my mind. Here's what Mark did: Click here
  20. Broke my pinky toe this morning... YAY!

Ouch! At least you weren't diagnosed with gout. I don't even have a good story to explain why I'm limping.

    Crocea Clam

Thanks all!! I got home and noticed he wasn't actually attached to the rock like I first thought, but a shell underneath the rock - WIN!!! I put him on a large frag plug, hoping he'll attach to that. (He's a wee little clam, the frag plug is almost as big as him.) Will move him to a rock after attachment What looks like brown on him is actually algae on the glass, I have to clean it. Nice Maxima - wow!!
  22. Picked up this little crocea over the weekend. Had him positioned next to this rock so that he faced upwards (see photo). Now he's somewhat horizontal and has attached to the side of the rock – eep! (Discovered this when I tried to move him in a more vertical position) I didn't realize he would attach horizontally or so quickly. Will he be ok horizontal? If not, it's probably safer to relocate that toadstool coral, but what is the best way to do that? Do I just cut the coral's base and reattach it elsewhere? (I've never fragged anything.) Do you think if I put another rock under the clam, he'd attach to that instead? Thanks for all your help!!

    Wth??

OMG - I think I have two of those -- have left them in the tank because I thought they were big bristle worms (6"), but I've seen the nets you're talking about and have been wondering why I can't keep snails alive. Just bought a clam yesterday, I'm going worm hunting later. I heard that putting some mysis in a stocking will attract the worms and they'll get stuck on it - have you heard of that? Thanks!
