Good to know. How big is your tank?

  2. Just make sure you change that at least every three days....or watch those Nitrate levels soar +1 I had a Fluval 304 filter running on mine initially because I came from a freshwater background. After learning to trust in the Force, it now sits in my garage. I find HOB filter easier for dealing with the minimal carbon requirements.
  3. It only takes one bad dental hygienist to ruin your whole day.

I've met only one dentist that doesn't make me cry or shake when going. It only takes one dentist to create a phobia.

My dentist is an ARC member! He rocks! (Mike_M)

  4. Clownfish can't attack my hand when their mouths are full. Ha ha clownfish, HA HA!

  5. I remember taking a 10 year hiatus... Wishing you all the best. If you have any cerith snails (I can't kill those) or small pieces of live rock - let me know!! (Edit: Peppermint shrimp too?) Hugs,
  6. Watch out, I kill Xenia! (and not on purpose!)

Actually I might - thanks oO, I'm just trying to figure out what did it! I did move it to what I thought was a better place for it, and now it's just dying :( (I moved it back to its old spot)

If it helps I recently learned that high levels of magnesium kills Xenia pretty quickly... :(

  7. This sounds like a lot of fun, especially since I've never had scotch (or spam)...Unfortunately, due to my schedule I can't give a firm commitment, but if I can work it in, I will!
  8. I need an aggressive peppermint shrimp if you'd like to relocate him...
  9. RO DI system in place - pumping out first gallon! (Hey, do I have to worry about dechlorinating?)

      See you tomorrow !!

  10. Should I paypal now or just wait? Thanks!! p.s. This Sunday is supposed to be 67 and then Monday at 53. Next Wednesday we get more snow, but then next Friday & Saturday will be in 60's.
  11. I'm in for toadstool frag. I talked to him about it before, but will let him confirm price.
  12. Got my Buckeye Field Supply ro/di unit and refractometer today. First thing I did was calibrate refractometer and then measure salinity. GAWD! It was 1.030...brought it down to 1.028 tonight. Really surprised that nothing is reacting badly to the high salinity, other than snails. Will bring it down slowly over next few days.
  13. That Mark is pretty smart. I made the mistake of not dipping my very first corals and became an expert in flatworms.
  14. Thanks so much!! And thanks for the specific links, Mark - I was checking around your site because on one of your videos you mentioned a refractometer, but then I couldn't find it again -- Also, I'd look into the Hydro Logic, but I'm just renting the current place (after it took me a year to sell the money pit, I mean my house, I decided against buying for awhile). Assuming those larger systems would have to stay with the place...? Best, -eLizzy

    HELP!

    I recommend this right now.
  16. Thinking of getting this RO DI filter (50 gpd) and this Refractometer, unless you can recommend better... I did some preliminary research on this site, but I think the wine I'm drinking is affecting the results which come up nil...Should that be the case, feel free to point that out... Cheers! xoxo, -Elizzy
  17. Thanks all It's actually starting to look better -- we'll see what happens.
  18. So I thought it would be a great idea to put some of the salt creep back in my tank. Unfortunately, though I didn't see it, I think a flake of it must've landed on one of my mushrooms. It has a little burned spot today. What do you do when you notice a bad spot on your coral? Grab a carving knife or just let it be? So bummed about this. Lesson learned, of course. -Elizzy
  19. I didn't know that -- thanks, Randy!!
  20. Update: Used small airline tubing to suck out all that cyano. Did a 25% water change. Added Polyfilter to hob. Removed fluval 304 filter and biowheel from hob (figured I'd let the rocks handle the bacteria). Replaced lights (big difference noticed in the quality of light). Cyano has not returned. Hair algae is almost gone. Woot! p.s. Did end up buying chemiclean redslime remover, but have not used it yet...

  23. I had to look up marine betta! (Initially, I thought somehow those little freshwater guys could get acclimated!) Anyhow, that's such a long time -- you're obviously doing something RIGHT!!
