  1. I can take some tomorrow. I figured.......it's a 4wd, and a major pain to tear down, I'm already at the knuckle, might as well go whole hog. That way I won't have to deal with it again for a few years. Cause I sure would be mad if I didn't do it, and had to tear it down again in six months when a ujoint went on me. This truck isn't a status symbol, it works for a living when it's not playing. I looked a long time to find what I wanted.....302 v8, manual transmission and manual transfer case, manual locking hubs. A standard transmission is one of the best theft deterrents there is, very few people can drive one anymore. And I love it. If I put it in 1st gear, it stays there until I put it in a different gear. Thing will climb a telephone pole, or die trying. And yes, it has a name......."Thing".
  2. LOL! 1988 F150 (aka, giant *** tinker toy).
  3. My "little" truck project has turned into a major pain in my butt. What started out as a wheel bearing replacement has now morphed into: inner and outer wheel bearings + seal upper and lower balljoints stabilizer bar bushings spindle bearings/seal/slinger new brake pads new rotors inboard and outboard u-joints inboard stub axle replacement I'm wondering WHY in the world I started this fight. Every last thing on this truck has fought to the bitter end, requiring the use of a torch, sledgehammer, 3 or 4 foot cheater, or sawzall. The spindles were frozen in place, no amount of whooping on them would get them to let go, so the balljoints had to be broken loose, bottom nut cut off, then cut through the balljoints to remove the knuckle and spindle as a unit. Spindles gave it up once the backside was exposed to a sledgehammer. The only good thing is, once this is done I will have replaced every last consumable part that I can get to under the truck without dropping the third member. Differential comes down in the morning for the stub axle replacement, then it can start going back together. Deal of the day: Campbell Hausfield 1/2" impact gun at the local pawn shop for $10! Thing is like brand new.
  4. And one of my favorite acronyms at that. Unfortunately, I generally don't follow it.................
  5. Miss the chisel with the two pound shop hammer and you will find out that the hammer throw isn't just an Olympic sport.

      shotput the hammer eh?

Yup. Got more loft on it than normal. Quite surprising.

  6. Duncans and other "wavy type' LPS can just be weird. I don't think it's so much the *amount* of the flow, but rather a change in direction, velocity, or angle. I can hack off my torches just by moving a powerhead a little. And, they will just refuse to come out of their house until I put it right back the way it was. Zoas are also masters at this type of behavior. Sorta the coral version of LITHA.
  7. I'm betting it's the spinstream having changed the flow pattern in the tank. I pissed my duncans off a while back when I added a powerhead. They closed up and refused to come out until I removed the offending powerhead.
  8. Ok, I'm officially over working on my truck. I'm about ready to put a match to it. 4wd front ends are great....until they aren't.

The problem child is my '88 F150. I'll get it sorted. No way would I replace it....302 V8, manual transmission and transfer case. Couldn't find another like it if I tried.

  9. Taking my AKC judges renewal test. Can't believe it's already been 6 years. Wow.

I'm a performance judge. Lure coursing test and trials, all sighthound breeds.

  11. Pooh. I can only post 6. And they are hosted on my private website. Oh well, I bet I can make it work out ok
  12. How many images can we have in a post? I'm getting aggravated trying to figure it out.

  13. The issue seems to have resolved. I was able to comment a minute ago without being introduced to myself. BTW, how many pics can be posted at a time? I'm having an issue with that now
  14. I try to avoid the whole self awareness thing. If I got to know myself, I might not like me. I think the thing is busted.
  15. Ok, this is amusing. I tried to comment on a status update for someone. When I clicked on comment, it took me to my profile page. I tried twice, with the same results. I already know who I am
  16. Here we go again. Tornado warning in effect. Sky is turning black and green to the west of me. I've had just about enough of this nonsense.

Did I read somewhere that you were in San Saba? My parents are in Brownwood and they said there was one that touched down at the lake.

    3. Sherita

      Sherita

I'm just west of Brownwood. It missed me by a few miles. It got pretty rough over there. The folks in OKC have been flattened, I'm still trying to check in with friends there.

The okc news is terrible, I wish I could help. I couldn't imagine what something like that would be like to go through

  17. Yet again, the post office astounds me with incompetence. And they wonder why people don't use them.

After dealing with them today, I can honestly say that the USPS is a joke. Stonewalling, lying, rerouting, disconnecting, incompetent bunch of fools. I'm sure they have some good employees, but I didn't find one today.

      bimmerzs

I really wish the USPS would just disappear....they really serve no purpose. lol

    4. Sherita

      Sherita

Oh yay. Post office robots still can't find the missing box. All they can do is read from their little script. Due for delivery May 9th. Apparently they don't own a calendar. Or can't read.

  18. You've gotta love days like this............NOT.

Nah. I couldn't afford the speeding tickets :) Put a new fuel pump in the Astro, and she's back on the road again.

  19. Getting ready to pick a fight with the van. It IS getting new ball joints today, like it or not.

  20. It's a candy cane, two heads of it there.
