  1. I have a lot of these really tiny white starfish in my aquarium. I'm 95% sure they are asterina starfish, however, I do sometimes see them on my polyps. I have lost a few smaller polyp colonies because they seem to "melt" away. I just looked at a polyp that was "melting" and noticed that a small starfish was on it. Are asterina starfish harmful? If so, how the heck do I get rid of them?
  2. They kind of look like mojano anemones. If you pick up a few peppermint shrimp they should take care of them in no time. The coloring of them is a little weird so I could be mistaken about them being mojanos. They could just be palys.
  3. Yep, it is a horrible excuse.
  4. Nice! I've been wanting to put together a pico tank for my desk at work but our facilities folks say that it is a health hazard and attracts ants.
  5. Nice. Did you get it or is it still there?
  6. I did the same. I would like to mention that it is cheaper to get an RO/DI unit and make your own.
  7. I have a few pieces of equipment that I am not using anymore that I'd like to sell. Here we go: Current USA 36" T5 Fixture - $150 Euro-Reef RS-80 Skimmer - $65 (Perfect for a <75 gallon tank) Coralife UV Sterilizer 8 Watt - $75
  8. This may sound morbid, but are you able to get to him with a kabob stick or a bent wire hanger? I have had to "fish" out dead fish from behind my rocks using all sorts of non-PETA friendly methods. If you want to go humane you could use a small pump and a hose to "flush" him out from under the rocks. It would only disturb your sand bed.
  9. Current USA makes some LEDs that are pretty awesome. I have 5 strips on my tank and they are amazing. Ask Mark Callahan, Mr Saltwater Tank, about them. He's the one that hooked me up.
  10. They are beautiful. I like them a lot but have been avoiding them since they do have a poor survivability rate. I think it will be fine in your tank since it is large, established, and has a good supply of natural food.
  11. I can't do it right now. It's a nice one though.
  12. I was bored this morning and was cruising YouTube. I came across the following video: This thing is massive! I wonder how long it has been growing.
  13. Nice. Let me do my bills tomorrow and I'll see ifi can afford it.
  14. I'm interested but would like to see a picture first.

    The "FREAK"

Wow, talk about being a hardy fish! I see those at AquaDome and think about getting one.
  16. Bonne Temps? Does that mean there will be True Blood available?
  17. Do you have a lot of snails or anything that could possible be breeding? It kind of sounds like your tank is a bit spunky. It happens to mine occasionally when my snails are spawning or corals decide it is breeding seasons. Though, the corals tend to close a bit, they don't show signs of stress. They just expel their little buddies.
  18. Nice! Blenny close ups are fun.
  19. Cleaner shrimp and maybe a cleaner wrasse. Cleaner wrasses have a poor survivability rate but if you have ich they will eat it. They will eat pods and stuff if your tank is well established.
  20. It will cycle a bit. It depends on how long it is not running during the move.
  21. That's really odd. I have only seen them recede when the sand bed is too high on their sides. They can get a bit of an infection from that. You might want to make some little pedestals for your corals that are on the sand bed, maybe just a reef plug epoxied to the bottom of them, so they sit about a quarter of an inch above the sand bed.
  22. Also, do you have pictures of the placement? LPS tends to have a big need for a "no fly zone" between each colony so they don't sting each other.
