  1. Since my last post, I started a new business and quit my tile business all together. I started a photo booth rental business where we rent photo booths for all kinds of events. From weddings, corporate events, birthday parties, to proms, graduations, and conferences. Feel free to check me out at partytimebooths.com.

PS. Might be kinda cool for an event like C4. You could have the C4 or ARC logo in the background of all of the pictures taken with the green screen.

Were you on Shark Tank? smile.png

Haha. I wish that was me. I have thought about applying many times but I guess I was a little too late. I do think it would be cool to see these things in every NBA arena and NFL stadium. It would be a really cool souvenir. You could have the team logos in the background of all of the pictures.

  3. Cozumel is amazing. You can snorkel in many places and it's nearly as good as diving. Drift diving, wall diving, wreck, cave, ... it has everything.

It really is. I have gone on many paid "snorkel excursions" but have found some hidden gem snorkel spots right off the shoreline that rival any excursion. If anyone ever goes, ask me and I can tell you a really cool spot you can drive to.

  4. I am a Caribbean junkie. I have been to Jamaica 3 times, Cayman Islands, Puerto Rico and Cozumel 7 times. The last 2 years we have went to Cozumel 3 times for a total of 20 days. We already have another trip booked for august. People always ask why I don't try other places but every time I do, I regret not going to Cozumel. It is safe, very easy to get around the whole island, AWESOME snorkeling right off the beach, only a 2.5 hour flight, and it is really cheap to go in comparison to other places. Plus, it is a pretty small island and i already know my way around really well. I am a die hard snorkeler. The ONLY reason we don't dive is because I have a 8 and a 10 year old and include them in every trip we take. They love to snorkel with me and it is an awesome experience to share with them. I have a ton of cool pictures and I will start another thread for some when I have time.

  5. The rules read right now:

Any tank under 6 gallons is acceptable. Any disputes will be settled by Manufacturers rated volume or measurements for DIY tanks.

And the sump must be less than 2.5 gallons.

I hope this is true because I already ordered a custom made 5 gallon display and a 2.5 gallon sump. Please let me know if this is acceptable. I thought it was said, before this thread, up to 5 gallons with a sump no bigger than 1/2 of display.
  6. Also timers at biglots are 3-4 bucks. Easy to fit on the budget when we leave or get home way after lights should be on or off....

I don't want to constantly have an uneven light time on such a small tank. The fish don't need the stress and algae needs to be controlled. Would hate to lose critters due to light being on to long and cooking the tank or growing algae... This could just be cosy defend safety if the tank and we shouldn't loose anything lol!!

I thought this was the point of the contest. To be able to maintain a small system without relying on high dollar equipment and really testing your husbandry and reef keeping abilities. There are tons of people who cant afford a apex and can keep a system just fine. If you cant afford what you need, you shouldnt be joining the contest anyway. No offense. Im not trying to argue at all and I hope I dont ruffle any feathers but I thought this was the whole point of the contest.

  7. so what happens if the pico light and such are hooked to my apex for timers and everything? I was going to use it to run my ato also.

You should have to budget for timers. That is part of this being a independent system and not fair for the people having to budget for it.

  8. With contest ending with C4 what if Mike allow all tanks to be set up at C4 and the voting could take place there? I think this would be a wonderful display of the awesome ARC folks.

I wont be around the weekend of C4 and wouldnt want to break down my system and set it back up only to break it back down and set it up again, anyway. If this is going to be the case im out.

  9. Well, my career path isn't as interesting as most posting but I will share. I started out helping my step dad do tile work during summer breaks from school when I was about 12, I am 33 now. I helped every summer until I graduated high school. From there I went to college for a couple of semesters but it just wasn't for me. So I went into doing tile work full time. I worked for my dad for many years and got tired of seeing him bring home $5-6K a week when I was doing all of the work. I wanted to become partners with him but he wouldnt pay me more than $12 a hour so about 10 years ago decided to start working for myself. It was the best decision of my life. Most of my business is custom tile work in higher end homes but I do work in homes of all price ranges. Luckily around the Salado/Belton area, building is still going strong so I really haven't slowed down at all with all of the recession mess.
