  1. That does suck. What type of corals and what did you dip with?
  2. How about an update on this sweet lil tank?
  3. Although my sps are not looking so hot, my acans are doing okay. Figured I'd update this thread with something positive.
  4. I'm sure you know this but make sure you go into the "file" menu with your CPU hooked up to the Profilux and "save" the settings. I learned the hard way and had to reset everything after a power failure.
  5. Hey Chris I really like your set up, especially the lights and the Profilux Plus. I didn't see the Profilux dosing pump though, is it underneath the stand? I too have the Profilux controller and the ATI fixture and was consedering the new dimable powerbar that's out. Have you seen it yet?
  6. Sorry Mike I don't have a shop, the tank is at my house in South Austin(Onion Creek) Do you ever make it down South?
  7. Mike, Tank is roughly 200 gallons and is 60" long 30" deep and 26" tall. I keep five Maxima clams in the sand bed roughly 36" below the fixture with no problems at all. You're more than welcome to come by some time and check it out in person. Tank was set up last December.
  8. Mike, The ATI P.M. has one fan per two bulbs, which does a great job keeping it cool.
  9. If you decide to go with T5's I'd spend the extra money and invest in a fixture that has good reflectors. Personally I like the ATI Power Module but it's the only T5 fixture I've used. I like the even uniform spread the T5 gives you vs. metal halides. I can say as long as I have a small tank I'll stick with T5's. The only down side is it get's a little expensive when it comes time to repalce all ten bulbs. Here's a picture of my tank from a few months ago.
  10. Cecil, Your new plan should give you the look you are going for. Next time I change out bulbs I'm going to leave out the 420nm range and replace with fiji pinks. Let us know how the new combo looks.
  11. Cecil, Yes change all the bulbs out at once. Raise the ATI P.M. 8-10 inches higher than normal, and cut your photo-period by 30%. After week one drop the P.M. 4-5 inches and increase the photoperiod by 15%. Do the same on week two and you should be good to go. However I would let your corals tell you what's going on. If they start to bleach out raise the P.M. back up and cut back on the photoperiod. Enjoy you new lights! BTW what combo did you go with?
  12. A glass top on a rimless aquarium?
  13. Ole man you got me by three to four years depending on what the vet tells me next week.
  14. Rimless tanks look cool if you have the right fixture. I would advise agaist glass cages, they are hit or miss when it comes to quality. AGE builds a good tank but they're not cheap. In fact I have a complete set up I'll let go including fish and corals for 15K. LMK
  15. I believe so, it came with his first social security check.
  16. Gabe just a little advice for you man, start working out. This will help "strengthen" your bones so when you fall down in the shower you don’t break you hip. That plus drinking Eensure twice a day might even help you look younger.
  17. No Gabe just looks fifty, he's actually only 48.

    Corals

Please help John out, from the looks of his tank it's busting at the seams with sps and he needs something bigger. As soon as I quit killing corals I'll come take some of those beauties off your hands man.
  19. Are you going to VSV dose or just vodka dose? Back when I was vodka dosing the first thing I noticed was stinky skimmate.
  20. I added a Lubbock wrasse once and didn't see him for four days. Then one day my wife is like, "Hey look it's Mike Leach" (that's what she named him)
  21. Dude- Dustin your new tank freaking looks awesome! I'm jealous.
  22. hw is the lab that makes Tunze salt. Supposedly identical to natural sea water- check it out. "hw Sea Salt professional is a synthetic sea salt enriched with trace elements, bio-elements and protective colloids. It guarantees the purest seawater for professional reef aquariums and successful breeding in seawater aquaristics. hw Sea Salt professional is purer then nature can provide. It is virtually identical to natural sea salt and contains all positive constituents of natural seawater in a natural composition. hw Sea Salt professional is free from harmful impurities as they can unavoidably occur in nature and often find their way into home aquariums."
  23. Keep us updated on this please. I've read recently where low MG levels will cause the polyps to "bail out" but this persons levels were in the 600 range.
