  1. Important things to know when keeping acans. 1. They do not grow fast at all. But if you spot feed EACH mouth they will grow faster. I typically feed my acans about once every two weeks and I do so after the lights have gone out or early in the morning when it's still dark outside. Make sure to leave the pumps off for about 30 minutes or so. 2. Keep your MG levels up above 1200, anything lower than this will stop all growth and cause tissue loss if levels are long for a long period of time. 3. Acans like shade. Unlike SPS acans will "color" up better if kept in the shade. My acan garden gets in-direct light reflected off the side glass panel and they are very happy. I have moved a few up before and in a matter of days they turned brown. Hope this helps.
  2. Nice shots Brooks! Looks like you've been shopping at Dales place?
  3. Dude sexy rimless! This will be a sweet set up and I imaging you have some good ideas for aquascaping eh? Let me know if you need any browned out sps. Glad you got it moved in and good to have you back Gabe. p.s. I miss not seeing you on Weds. just a little
  4. So sorry to hea. I have a 14 month old son and couldn't imagine what I'd do if something were to happen to him. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your sister.
  5. Cecil what are you looking for? I have some Undata, Myagi tort, green slimer, etc that would all be nice sized frags.
  6. Looks like it could be a Purple Monster but the polyps throw me off and the fact that it started off pink. Do you remember who you got it from?
  7. Second water change was done last Sunday and I'm very impressed with growth and color. Some polyps that were brown have turned to a bright blue color! I'm hooked for sure.
  8. It's been five months since I last updated this thread and during that time my tank has seen it's fair share of woes. I've had everything from stray electricity kill off all my snails and a few fish which caused a massive cyano outbreak followed by green hair algae, to most recently when my chiller ran for 10 hours straight taking my tank temp down to 69. Although I'm not excited about the state my tank is in I do feel that it's on the upswing and things will start to improve. To document it's progress I snapped a few shots today.
  9. Did Danny sell his entire colony to you? Do you know where he aquired it from?
  10. Stephen, I did my first ~30 gallon water change on Sunday. As far as better P.E. it's hard to tell (already have great P.E.) I don't know what it cost, I got two buckets from Kingfish and some other misc items and handed over a blank check (hasn't cleared the bank yet) but I think it was right around the $100.00 range for 200 gallons. One thing that impressed me right from the start is how fast this salt dissolves. It was completely clear 30 minutes after mixing it.
  11. Where did the Insignas come from? I just lost my colony that I got from Brian Jackson and would like to replace it.
  12. Hey Andrew nice car man! I really enjoyed the Nismo exhaust and cold air intake on mine. A must IMO.
  13. Stephen, I went with Tropic Marin Bio-Actif instead and so far I really like the results... KH tested @7.5 MG tested @1200
  14. Yo Danny what's up? Still fragging?
  15. You deserve to have animal cops called on you! What a horror story, but a happy ending.
  16. Dang Wayne, I have ten T5 bulbs but they are 48".
  17. Why not???? Do you think it will "leach through the glass?" I use windex on a black and white newspaper to remove all the smears, salt creep, etc. I even use it on the inside of my rimless just above the water level. Then to polish off the low FE glass I wipe clean with a fresh sheet of news paper. Note: I spray the newspaper with Windex in the other room. Clint
  18. After reading over my post again I've convinced myself it's Oregon! 100% sure.
  19. If you look close you can see the difference between the two. Cali tort Oregon tort
