Best material for padding under return pump

Following because I haven't found anything better than the suction cups my pumps came with. I tried EVA foam to no avail as it is way too buoyant. I think most other foams are going to float too well also.

I do have a EVA mat under my entire sump which helps quite a lot.

I cut up an old mouse pad, and it works great!

I went the mouse pad route once and they'll eventually dissolve and make a mess. I'd take it out!

If you look on the cookware aisle in HEB you'll find silicon hotpads for under $5. Like Ty said, these work good with a zip tie.

Otherwise you can shop BRS. I've had this one which worked great.

A few years ago I saw Mark do a video where he used Styrofoam under his skimmer. The Styrofoam didn't dissolve over the two years that I had used it. One problem I had with the foam was that it would slide and the pump would eventually touch the walls of the sump and make some noise.

Also, I can't find a link to them, but someone posted using silicon hose with clamps on the pump outputs to reduce noise transferred via the tubing. I know PVC and flexible vinyl will still transfer a lot of noise even if the pump is isolated.
