Latest FTS after moving some corals. Im hoping the frogspawn will be happy that high up.. I think itd look lovely there.

Im willing to bet most of these will move as i figure out where their happy places are but one can hope theyll all be happy where I want them

I have been dosing SeaChem Stability as perdirections on the bottle. Doing a full range of tests tonight, ill be sure to post the results

Also starting to tnk about stocking. Im def wanting two more Bangaii to make a small shoal. Then a pistol shrimp for my goby. Also a clownfish pair is certain. Another conch, maybe 4-5 snails.

Also wanting some sort of "centerpiece" fish, and am completely open to suggestions on that!

Now starts the saving of money for C4!!!

Haha actually.. I planned on Plasti-dipping the back.. Then i got so caught up in getting the tank going.. I forgot.. And now.. Im actually beginning to wonder how itll look if it was white!!!!

All of that sand dust made it almost look white but then with the white sand it may be too much. Thatll have to be a whole other project to get the tank far enough from the wall to do it though o.O

Oh and of course my daily tank update. Im a little bummed out after finally realizing one of my leopard geckos isnt doing so well. So anyone reading this.. She is in the classifieds for free :/

Im also looking to get rid of two on my small FW tanks to a few friends. Today made me really feel like i needed to downsize. As if I cant take care of my animals because I have too many and it broke my heart to realize that.

Anywho.. Tank looks good. Pretty much all the corals are open and were showing PE during feeding time. I decided to feed pretty heavy today with a full cube of mysis.. Idk why. Cant think of a good scientific excuse.

So as always.. i went to the store to get some small mealworms for one of my rescue geckos since my mealworm colony only has adults.. And well.. Jesse swayed me into buying some things lol.

I was already planning on getting two more Banggai and the buggest one at PetCo looked to be a male based on the good ol "count the vents" way and i snatched him. We got to discussing what could be my "centerpiece" fish and I saw the sixline. He was with a firefish and was totally calm and not being a jerk. Fat and healthy.. So I nabbed him too.

Woot woot!

I had a little party last night to celebrate my new tank and the most common question was "dude why do you only have two little fish?" or "why is it so empty?"

After explaining how only things from the tiny tank were in there and my future plans they stopped bugging me about it lol

There were around 11 people that came over and we had a hookah in the kitchen about 20 feet from the tank. I was a bit concerned about the smoke but today everything is still happy and colorful :D

Fish are floating right now but ill get more pics when they are in the tank and acclimated

Pictures ofother things to tide yall over [emoji14]

My rescue gecko. Little Foot. Fattening him up then taking him back to the store. The breeder shipped him to us when he was less than three weeks old so he didn't take that well and started fasting.

Oh I also forgot to update on my new hunk o LR.

Picked it up from Victoly! Thanks once again Ian!!!! It was a fun drive ;)

post-3374-143059660089_thumb.jpg

So pretty. Some bristleworms were hanging out in the bottom of the bag I had it in so we'll see if the wrasse likes those :3

post-3374-143059664662_thumb.jpg

Ball anemones?

post-3374-143059667943_thumb.jpg

Some brown palys made it through the trip

And some red feather dusters here and there. Nice piece of rock! My goby was very interested in it last night. Exploring and perching on it :D

I havent decided where I want to place it. Itll for sure go on the left side with my other blue rock, but with the nem on that rock ill have to figure something out as far as aquascaping.

The fish are now in their homes. Salinity matched up so they didnt get a super long acclimation. I fed the tank not too long after and EVERYONE piled into the corner that the food tends to flow towards and just ate and ate and ate. The wrasse is exploring everything.. The goby is a little ticked off at that but only flaring up.. No fights. The Cardinals are sticking together as well

Couple more artsy fartsy DSLR pics. The nem is slowwwwwly moving to I guess wherever he feels happy. But its super open today. I could see his whole disc, which is about 4" in diameter, then of course his super long tentacles make him look even bigger. Not sure how big he'll get. Ive read 11" in diameter but those same sources say his tentacles should only be 5" long and they're easily around 6" right now

Oh and I finally got a Hanna phosphate meter. Not an ULR or phosphorus one.. But still works fine for what Ill need it for. The tank tested at 0.00 and my tap at 0.08 ppm. I was told this specific meter is about 7% off as it was tested with Ty's standard. So.. With this knowledge.. Idk lmao

I don't know a ton about phosphates and what to shoot for. I don't think I'm trying for a low nutrient system. My favorite corals are zoas so those are my focus.

Knowing what we do know about my tap water (tests 0 for ammonia nitrate and nitrite) do we think its not TOO bad to use for my water source? An RO/DI filter is out of the question sadly. And 5 gallon jugs literally weigh more than half of me (a whopping 93 pounds)

The water that is in the tank is from the tap. And although I did have algae problems towards the end of my 10 gallons life.. i also stopped doing water changes for a few months and didnt take care of the tank as I should.

Im also in the market for a new pistol shrimp to host my nem. Ive contacted Nikos Reef first in hopes that they can order the very specific shrimp I want. I dont remember the scientific name off the top of my head, all my shrimp info is on my computer. Im using Tapatalk pretty much 99% of the time I post.

You are the standard for awesome reef tanks!

Don't know if I'm there yet but I'll take being a Hanna standard for phosphate. wave.gif

And a benchmark for video soundtracks too!

So my cousin sent me this and wants me to try something similar. I told him if he buys me the figurine and stuff to coat it so it wont chip or leech any paint in the water ill do it in the reef tank. Ill get the background of Rapture vinyl printed if I do go that route. I do love Bioshock and Big Daddies are my favorite in game characters. The lighting would be the only "difficult" part. I do have those circular bubble wands with blue LEDs at work.. But it looks like the light is coming from behind.

Also finally going to go get a CUC today. Maybe two conches.. 7-9 snails total i think would be decent enough for now. Not sure what else I could add. I know i have at least two brittle stars, one being a mini and the other quite larger.

Also: Fat pregnant leopard gecko for fun. Alex is the chunkiest gecko I've ever had. Always hungry.

So these guys got stuck under the nem.. Almost a month ago it seems. Getting stung all day.. So we'll see if they make it.

df7e9f4646915d41d502a8337030a771.jpg

This poor guy also was just a tad too close, tips of tentacles were brushing across it for a couple days.

02f62ecff714f89e8e90070ba8c64472.jpg

Same with the acans but they seem to be verrryyy slowly bouncing back to at least being inflated and wanting to eat. The color on these was awesome when KimP gave them to me :/

97cba63e39a805a614823633cd4c2f7b.jpg

Looks like we have a snail thats hopefully shut tight till the nem leans back to the left

1a5328182c4af8b4d2acae97c1c220e5.jpg

And another that somehow got flipped then stung to death

8de977e4e3f23a4f6c49dea43a20284c.jpg

I cant even imagine this girl was sooo thin when i first upgraded. Neglect :( totally my fault. But she pulled through and gets fed religiously every day! Everyone eats well and appears to haveall established territories on the right side of the tank as far from the nem as possible.

Im tossing around the idea of rehoming the nem. But where to? Nobody wants a $5 nem thatll get huge and murder anything near it.

Both conches are working hard as well

Once again figured out why things didnt seem to be thriving. Stray voltage. Again. This time much more than last. The float switch for the ATO was the culprit -.- boo for having to manually top off (first world problems) lol

Other than that things are growing well. Just waiting on everyone to perk back up after the shock to start doing some targeted coral feeding and see how that effects growth.

Oh and a rat at work had babies

Finally had spare cash to get a "real" powerhead. Ill def be getting another one as well and using the AC70 as a reactor type housing for carbon or purigen, etcetc.

Also ordered ten new float switches. And some random stuff for my freshwater tanks. Sponge filters for the bettas, more airline connections and adapters, breeder boxes for the shrimp when I get more into selective breeding them and the guppies. New nets, some plants, some Indian Almond Leaves, and will be getting another new pump for the skimmer since i messed up the old impeller and its cheaper to get a whole new pump for $8 than try to find an impeller.

I love eBay.

I am currently on my way out of town to see my cousins graduate in Fort Stockton. Not sure if anyone else here is from the original Friday Night Lights area lol

I will be back tomorrow for a wedding so my friends that are watching my dogs were advised to not mess with any of the fish as i fed everyone before we left this morning but to call if anything looks or sounds weird.

Nem is officially gone.

Sadly in order to remove him, he met his demise as he was just too stubborn and nobody wanted him

Doesnt look as dead anymore. All browned out but im leaving it where it is till I see some color. Its in low to medium light over in that corner

These dont look as scrawny as they had been since being introduced to my tank. They were nice and fat at Ty's of course [emoji14]

My Purple Finger of Excellence FTS haha

I need to run a thorough water test but I seem to have lost my vials for my red sea kit so im looking for replacements. Not sure where to start looking for those as the threads would need to fit the "triation doodad"

Went to go see if the Pom Pom crab(s) i requested PetCo to get in were here.. Nope, they were bought before I could grab them! Darn! So, what do I do? I get a damsel that may or may not get 6" and possibly terrorize my tank in the future. Im hoping that with him being so tiny (little over an inch) we wont have any aggression issues. I wasnt planning on getting anything finned today, so now I'm deciding what my final fishy stock will be. I wanted a clownfish pair but i also wanted a school of 6 of the Bangaii. Not sure if i can get four more Bangaii in there without adding a ton to the bioload, same with the clowns.

05d39fec65bd8c608b8a5cb7964c0384.jpg

Also grabbed an anemone crab. I really do enjoy inverts. Im wanting to get as much diversity in them as possible with no aggression. Any suggestions would be welcome.
