  1. I may be there. Original plan was to be leaving for vacation on Saturday, but thinks have changed and we might not be leaving until Sunday...if so I've gotta see the tank!
  2. Yup...just wish that old one was still available.
  3. That "guy" who went with him was his wife...and she was free diving too. It wasn't a single shot, though it was made to look like one. Dean's Blue Hole is actually deeper than any free-diver has ever gone. Not sure exactly how they pulled the whole thing off, but it all comes out to a really cool video.
  4. You need to fix that signature. And man does that stuff look great!
  5. ok...sounds like I need to hook the drain tube up to my skimmer and drop it in a bucket...fun!
  6. Same results today...really not sure what to do.
  7. Did a water change this morning. I don't know if I should leave it bubbling into the tank or off...
  8. Nope...says leave the skimmer on.
  9. Seemed to start the day after I dosed Red Slime Remover, but I'm not sure if it's a coincidence or not. I came home the day after I dosed to find bubbles coming through the return to my tank. My first thought was that my ATO had gone out and the return pump was running dry. Wrong. water level was fine. The skimmer was pussing micro-bubbles back out the bottom. I tried making some adjustments and the only one that seemed slow the microbubble "overflow" was skimming extremely wet. By extremely I mean clear, fill the cup in 10 seconds wet. I pulled the skimmer this morning and found a shell in the intake to the pump. I thought that was going to be it...apparently that had nothing to do with it. This is an SWC Extreme 160 Cone. The microbubbles are coming out of the area where you can adjust the water intake. There are so many bubbles generated they're filling the cone and then the area around the pump (which is under the cone). I'm stuck. Anyone have any ideas?
  10. Rubbermaid livestock trough...that's what those things are called! I guess I need to order so I have some idea of the volume of container I'm going to need.
  11. a month...longer if you can. People have kept rock alive for a year with this method. Which is why I'm thinking about ordering the rock soon...gotta figure out a container, though...
  12. I got my original rock from prof...and battled with a few things. I was wanting to start with dead for the rest so I don't add more hitch-hikers to the system. Not to mention the dead rock, at about $2/lb shipped, is some **** nice stuff. I wouldn't have the rock in still water. At least a pump and/or powerhead or two. Would I need a skimmer as well?
  13. I'm planning on moving up from a 75g tank to a 150g (or so) tank in the coming months. Which tank is still in the planning phase, but that I will be doing it is a given. I currently have about 100lbs of rock in my 75g tank, but I don't like all (or much) of it. I'm thinking about starting the new tank from dead rock. But given that the new tank will be going where the old tank currently sits I don't have time to set it up and cycle the dead rock, which leaves a challenge. I'm thinking about ordering about 150lbs of Marco Rocks, figuring out how I would like to aquascape them, and then cycling them in my garage in a large container. Properly cycled I should be able to use these rocks immediately in the move to a new tank...right? My major question is: Can I cycle rocks in a 90+ degree, high humidity garage, or am I pretty much screwed until the fall unless I want to bring it inside? What other challenges is this going to present as far as safety for the fish and coral? Am I missing something completely that makes this idea impossible?
  14. Weird...looks small for 1200 gallons. This is a 1000 gallon tank in Thailand that looks larger:
  15. Pretty much the going price for a decent sized Sherman...
  16. Just tried to send an email a little while ago and it bounced back with this error: A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed: [email protected] (generated from [email protected]) mailbox is full: retry timeout exceeded
  17. maybe I need another 40 hermits or so... I think my original problem stemmed from contaminated RO/DI water. I've solved that issue and my water is coming in clean, but I am unable to win the war that was started long ago. I think flow is my current issue. I seem to have some dead spots. Another Vortech is on the way...overkill for a 75g, but I'll be upgrading in the coming months. With two Vortechs, though, flow should no longer be an issue.
  18. I used the red slime remover with some success a few months ago...I'm about to try again after my next water change. But TLC might be the longer term solution.
  19. Gotta pick some of this up...I'm fighting a losing battle with red slime...
  20. Cleanest my sandbed looked was when I had a Diamond Goby. The problem was it didn't want the sand where I did...but it was clean.
  21. outside of cyano mine's not half bad. I've been siphoning out a lot lately because of that, though...
