I have heard good things about their lights with the exception of the bulbs. I would probably look at a different setup because these really aren't that good of a deal when you figure in the price of a decent bulb.

So this tank is just a few days past a month old and I figured it was time for some updated pics. I haven't really added much just yet as I like to take it slow and try to make sure I dont do something I am going to regret later. Here is a current FTS: Here is the Firefish I picked up from shane at fishy business a few weeks ago. He is just now starting to come out of his hiding spot: I just picked up this anemone and these clowns from aquadome this morning. I am not sure what kind of nem this is but the clowns love it. When I put the bags in the tank to float the clows were swimming against the side of the bag trying to get to the nem and then as soon as I unbagged them they went straight to it. If someone could tell me what kind of nem and clowns these are I would appreciate it. here is a shot of how I crammed a Precision Marine redline 150 into a 20g sump I know a skimmer rated for a 150 gallon tank might be overkill on a 40g but I like fish and I plan on "overstocking" this tank so I went big on the skimmer. I also added a moderate clean up crew consisting of 10 nassarius snails, 10 nerite snails, 10 zigzag snails, and a few blue legs from my old tank. I also added some mangroves to the fuge but I dont know if they are in there right. Should they be more out of the water than this or will they grow like this?

mine is zip tied to the return plumping coming from the mag pump in my sump.

yea I thought mine was secured too... It is now zip tied in place so it cant come out again

I had good luck putting the power heads about half way down the glass on each side and pointing them towards the front in an X pattern while they are angled towards the top of the tank. It is kinda hard to describe but I hope that makes since

Make sure the line from your ATO pump to your tank/sump is secured in place. If it happens to fall out of your sump and lay behind your tank you can pump 10 gallons of RO water all over your very expensive hard wood floors in a matter of minutes

I am just getting to know some of you and I plan to make the next few meetings. I was just wondering what kind of work everyone does to pay for there obsession. I work at a Ford dealership as a quicklane/ asst service manager. I took this job because I got burned out doing my previous work and this was a much lower stress job. I have actually come to really like this job and have been here almost 3 years now. Prior to this I was an IT Director for a community bank and then I went to work for a national IT consulting firm and I traveled pretty much 100% of the time and just got burned out.

I will just pay for the whole box if he dosent pay.

Getting an ato should be the number one priority for any reef tank. I put off getting one for several months and after getting one I will never run a tank without one

I have never run anything more than a 40g so take this with a grain of salt but I cant see ten pounds of rock making a difference on a tank that size.

I guess I some how missed that reply ... I am still looking for any kind of macro to add to my fuge. I would prefer someone up north but if you are down south that just gives me a reason to visit aquadome

how long has he been in the tank? Clown gobies actually require very little food to survive. I had one for a long time and I dont think I ever saw him eat anything.

I will split a box of reagents with all or with one person. I would rather split with one person as my tank is new and I will be testing fairly often for the next 6 months or so but I can split with several people if need be.
