  1. yeah.. you'll want to rinse that with fresh water or alcohol to get the salt out before drying it out with rice. it was RO water... no salt...but valid point
  2. another handy tip: After knocking my Tunze wave controller into a half-filled bucked while still plugged in, it started to freak out (leds flickering, not remaining on etc) I took out all the screws, shook out all the water I could and still the problems persisted. repeated and placed it in a ziplock bag with dry rice and sealed it up. Left it overnight and works perfectly this morning! (the rice absorbs the moisture in the bag) Generally I would recommend 24-72 hours just to be sure
  3. The "rice trick" does work on wet electronics...saved a Tunze wave controller last night

  4. Maybe algaebox-ception (algaebox inside another slightly bigger box) creating a buffered grow-zone. Like how zoos have not know a fence between you and the bear, but also a moat.
  5. Since zeovit is an ULNS it would be hard to keep any macro alive, it would tend to have huge die off.

Haha, no...:| sadly RSU stock options must be claimed

  10. A drilled siphon break is unnecessary if: A) your sump can hold the water that flows back through until your return is exposed to air b) you don't use too much locline/have it too deep c) have a check valve (but these can fail) a drilled siphon break is a safety measure
  11. example...I have a DSA neo 90 tank (1" overflow 3/4" return) you will notice in the picture i sent they have all three the same size, however there are 2 overflows...so in essence the return is 1/2 the size of the overflows in that configuration, and it is fine
  12. yes...as long as you are not getting full siphon
  13. for the return it is just a piece of pipe that fits into the bulkhead then has a 90 that is threaded on one side to accept the lockline depending on the tank size this will probably be a 3/4" - 1" pvc see the center pipe here:
  14. you can get 12v peristaltic pumps for about $20 shipped from ebay. cheap....er?
