  1. Almost 99.37% sure thats a barnacle. Cheers,
  2. I have a sequence dart pump FS or better yey I would be willing to just trade straight up with you depending on the age of whichever one we decide to swap. lmk Cheers,
  3. The more important issue's with everything being covered is the reduction of oxygen exchange. You will have less oxygen coming in, less C02 escaping which will depress PH/alk. I vote for larger container and automating your reservoi refill. Cheers,
  4. Cool....congrats on the new addition. Cheers,
  5. Hi, Do you know the wavelength of the led's you bought. Choosing any "blue" led light to make your coral's "look" good does not necessarily mean they are of benefit to your coral's. You need "blue light" with a predominant peak wavelength of 445nm which not only produces visually stunning colors, but it's the wavelength found in nature which helps to stimulate growth. Choosing a light source that incorporates a broad spectrum is of greater benefit to the coral's than choosing something that just looks appealing to our eye's. Cheers,
  6. Have you looked at stevesleds.com? Cheers,
  7. This is my recommendation. http://reefbreeders.com/led_fixtures.html Cheers,
  8. Whatever route you take make sure to buy quality equipment, I like to say "do it right or don't do it at all. Quality does not mean the latest and greatest or most expensive, that is where research comes in. A tank in the 60G to 90G is a lot more forgiving to a newbie learning about water chemistry and how the elements interact and affect each other. A ph monitor really will show you what a test kit can't on how adding certain thing's influence. A ro/di unit ensures you are putting in good water, an auto top-off helps with the all important stability aspect as does a refractometer. Read, read and read some more before jumping in. Cheers,
  9. Running carbon will remove any smell. Any chance that your new water cycled on you before you got a chance to use it or was it just mixed? Maybe check out those canister filters. I would mix up more fresh saltwater just to have in case it's needed. Have you checked your parameters yet...including ammonia and nitrites? Cheers,
  10. At least I got to see one of these at MACNA last week. That should hold me over till he get's some pic's posted up here. Cheers,
  11. I've seen many smaller reef tanks as well as reef tanks up to 75G tanks use HOB filter's sucessfully. There are ways to mod them into fuges etc., one drawback is the smaller volume of water that they can hold/process however you can impliment purigen or similar types of filter media to make it very functional and effective. You do want to have adequate LR in the tank, maintain a reasonable bioload and make sure to have a good waterchange schedule. Cheers,
  12. Hi, Thats a nice colony, it's probably gonna end up being a nice deeper blue. Wild colonies are kinda fickle sometimes, many require stable, pristine water condition's and that doesn't guarantee success with wild colonies ime. Good luck bro. YMMV Cheers,
  13. Hi, Sent a PM on the below item's. Water Changing system no pumps just two 50gal containers and solid wooden stand $ 200 $160
  14. You can check out guru.com also, for what you need it will be pretty cheap. Cheers,
  15. Sorry man, I'm just gonna watch these collect dust, I'm sure I'll find a use for them at some point. Cheers,
  16. These are back in a bucket collecting dust so no longer available.
  17. Hi, I would check Alk level's, my old tank would drop 2.5dHH a day if I turned off my CaRx. Low alk will cause recession in sps if low, you make want to triple check salinity also in case something happened with your top-off method(i.e. somehow topping off with saltwater while away etc.) Cheers,
