  1. So I know you said you won't part out, but just in case I am interested in the controller and the skimmer
  2. It is being drop shipped via freight in Bastrop, and it is actually shipping with Hydro Innovations big tank. That is the only reason I was able to afford the shipping. As far as the size goes I am looking forward to aquascaping since there will be so much room to play. I actually wanted to do a 24" depth, but this tank is on special so it would have cost me several hundred more to get the taller tank.

    40 gallon tank

Well I just bought this to use as a sump on my new setup, but I've decided to go another route. It is a standard 40 gallon aquarium, 36x12x19, with some light surface scratches. Holds water just fine. I am just looking to get what I paid for it. $30
  4. I am almost finished with the base stand, put the first coat of primer on last night, and mdavis735 helped me build a removable outer skin to cover the base stand with. It still needs lots of putty, sanding, and maybe some moulding, but you can at least get the idea. Also, I ordered the upgraded drivers for my MP20 this afternoon so I may have one heck of a wave in my solana until I can get this tank up and running. Finally, my tank shipped from glasscages yesterday and is supposed to arrive on Tuesday.
  5. is that a 100 gph return pump? Or is it a 1000 gph return? Also, what kindof pump is it?

    Foam

well mine is a 36x37 rimless so the tank will sit directly on the stand instead of trim. I am doing it more as a precaution than anything else. Thanks for the info.

    Foam

It is just in case you have any flaws in the stand that could create a pressure point on the bottom of the tank. I don't see any on mine, but I thought better safe than sorry.

    Foam

that's a big mousepad.....36x37 Where do you find the material at?

    Foam

So this maybe a silly question, but what is the best type of foam to use between the tank and stand? I was going to use the pink foam board the sellat home depot, but i'm not sure it is dense enough. Thanks
  10. is the 40 gallon tank a stnadard 40 breeder?
  11. thanks. That's kinda what i was thinking, but i figure it's probably better to be over built rather than under built

    cheap aquarium

Thanks for the offer. I assume it is a standard 29G tank which I think is a little small for what I am doing. I will think about it and let you know. Thanks again.
  13. Well I have finally made the plunge back into a large tank. Due to location I was restricted to a 36" wide tank so I couldn't go too big, but I think this will be a nice size and easily maintained. On to the tank. I ordered a Glasscages rimless 36x37x18 tank that comes out to be just over 100 gallons. I will be taking this tank to Shane over at Fishy Business to have him drill 5 holes, 3 overflows and 2 returns,. Just in case ya'll haven't seen them he makes a very nice looking low profile overflow that takes up very little room. As of now I am planning on using a Mag 1200 for my return with the new Vortech EcoSmart MP40w for additional flow. As for the lighting I will be using my current lighting setup which is a Coralife aqualight pro 250W MH with 2x65W PC actinics. I plan to change this in the future, but I think it will be adequate for now until I can get the funds to upgrade. I still haven't made up my mind on the skimmer, but am thinking about the new SWC Xtreme 200 cone skimmer that is being released in May. I plan on making this SPS dominant with some LPS and zoas. Now on to the stand. I had some free time last night so I was able to build the basic 2x4 frame that I will be using. Still needs quite a bit of work, but you should get the idea. My plan is to build a complete one piece skin that is fully removable in order to facilitate maintenance. I have the basic plans of what I want in mind, but as I want to make sure I do this right the first time I am always open to suggestions or critizisms so please feel free to chime in. Now on to a few pics.

    cheap aquarium

Thanks but I am looking for something a little cheaper than that. Unfortunately, I am building the setup on a budget, and my better half is keeping a close watch of the said budget.
  15. Looks great....I need a sump. You want to build me one?

    cheap aquarium

I wonder if that is big enough for a 100G aquarium. I was originally thinking about a 40G breeder because it would give me just a little more space.
  17. I am looking for an aquarium in the 36" range to use as a sump. I don't care what the condition is as long as it holds water. Oh yeah and the cheaper the better.
  18. Time to start selling away my solana setup so that I can start buying equipment for my new setup. First to go is a 2 month old ER nano reef systems proteins skimmer that is in like new shape. I paid $195 with shipping in February, and am now looking to get as close to $150 as possible. This is a great little skimmer, but I don't think it can handle 100+ gallons. Details are listed here: http://www.nanoreefs...-p/nrs2.5-3.htm
  19. How much are you looking to get for the LR?
  20. still available? I tried to PM, but said you couldn't recieve new messages
  21. Looks great...I am looking forward to seeing both of our tanks as soon as they come in.
