  1. I know there is some discount code. Can you remind us what it is, please. Bill

    Pom Pom Xenia

Rats - your 'inbox is full'. I would like to arrange a daytime pickup if that's possible. Bill
  3. I'm glad to say it looks like I will make it. I really enjoy the meetings and hate to miss them but is always in limbo whether I can make it. We get my granddaughter every other weekend, so depending on the weekend and when she is coming over, plans etc. I can't always make it. TMI I know but this is an open forum section isn't it Bill
  4. If John doesn't want it I would like it, please. My next tank I am hoping will be a 6 x 1.5 ft 125 gal. If that is the size of this I would likely be using it sooner than later. Thanks Bill
  5. I do understand your reluctance but let me suggest two upsides to 'home visits'. 1) I believe one of the draws of this site is that it is a form of a social networking site but for people who really enjoy SW aquariums and talkin' about them. If you were answering an ad on Craigslist, that person may or may not be very personable, and may be interested in just makin a buck. I can honestly say I have not met a person through this great club who was rude or aloof. There have been a few that just aren't real talkative but the majority of the 'addicts' on here relish the opportunity to talk about reefin'. I think you will find almost everyone on here just plain ol good folks. 2) Going to someone's house allows you to see what these frags really look like. Naturally people will show their best pictures in the best lite and what they have is not as impressive when it is not under idea light and viewed under 10X magnification. Also when you are new and funds are limited you may see some very common brown and green zoas which are often much more interesting in person but will typically be very inexpensive both in overall price and price per polyp. Bill
  6. I don't know anything about the tank but know at least a little about the rest, but you will need to supply a little more info. What kind of T5 is it - tubes, length, watts - Filter is a HOB or a canister and what size - doesn't matter much but what size type of heater is it - if it is a clamp on I would say that is a bad sign for the quality of the 'system'. Is all this stuff a generic Hagen - Hagen makes AquaClear, Fluval (and Laguna). Bill
  7. That sounds like a heck of a deal Wes. I gotta ask the traditional "Does it have any chips, cracks, leaks or scratches". Thanks Bill
  8. Just fyi - I believe the most common 110 is the same footprint as a 75 (4' x 1.5'), which is prolly why medi asked if it was 4 ft - nooo biggie. Bill
  9. Kind of huh Congrats on yet another beautiful addition to your tank(s), I'm sure. Bill
  10. If you buy eggcrate at the stores I believe you have to buy a 2'x4' piece for well over $10. Perhaps someone has a small piece to share with you. I do, but I don't know how convenient it would be to you, as I live in Leander. Bill
  11. Dustin, If you're coming down 183, on the way to Austin, I would like to buy that last MH. Bill
  12. I have seen these advertised but could never really tell from the pics exactly what they are. Are they like a feather duster? Bill
  13. I have always understood the majority of a tanks weight is 'transferred' on the corners. I once knew a guy who had 3 55 gals (FW) sitting side by side on 4 pillars of cinder blocks (front and back) so all but 2 of the front 6 corners were resting on 4" of cinder blocks = no center support at all. I am no carpenter but I would think the only concern would be that the wood and fasteners could twist. If you braced it twice closer to the ends my guess is you should be fine. JMO Bill
  14. PM sent - I need right at $47.00 worth of stuff. Thanks Bill
  15. Looks like I will be able to make it after all - woohoo! I will bring some sort of cookies/brownies type thing - I don't bake, so it depends on availability Bill
  16. Yasmin/Kaylon Wasn't today going to be the big move day? Bill
  17. Yasmin - Reeaaally sorry to hear about you and Kaylon's bad fortune. It had to be a terrible visual. It sounds like the ARC is here to support you, especially Ryan. Hope things work out well and quickly. Let me know if I can help. Bill
  18. Jennifer Some of this advice is rather nonchalant for some serious procedures. I have never done a freshwater dip but I know saltwater fish do not like it at all. Perhaps someone can give you a little more info or you might want to google it. You can kill your fish doing this. Formalin, fyi, is poison which would definitely require a separate QT tank. Good Luck Bill
  19. I noticed at PetCo the other day, they have their own brand of algae magnets which are about 40% the price of mag floats. May be even better for your application since these are very solid (and do not float). Bill
  20. I actually was 'watching' those on Ebay to see how much more than opening prices they went for. Looks like you did good. That would have been a drag if in all the world we were the only 2 bidding against each other Bill
  21. It occurs to me (now) that MacDonalds will be very busy at that time of the day. There is a large lot, probably near empty where Chucky Cheese used to be. Even if there is a new business there you would have to think it wouldn't be near as crowded as the small McD. lot. Bill
  22. Well I couldn't stand it. I went ahead and ordered one little zoa, just so I didn't totally miss out of this order. I can and would prefer to meet at MacDonalds. Bill B(rister) 784-4475
  23. Mama - apparently you can keep the date you have - this is the first time I've heard about any prom (Bill sniffles). Bill
  24. I'm sure someone else knows better but my first thought was the goby may may not be a good match. Bill
  25. If it is stinky I would be concerned that smell was some other living stuff in the bucket. If so I would definitely swish it around in a little RO water or something - to make sure your not adding nasty stuff to your tank. JM2cents Bill
