  2. I was ticked to find out someone had bought that piece. . . until I found out it was you! Great buy! 🙂
  3. That's the problem with having a TDS reading higher than zero in your water - you don't know exactly what it is comprised of. Without a lab test it just means that your water contains unknown inorganic and/or organic matter that made it past the filter.
  4. Thanks for responding - I will send you a PM. 🙂 Actually - I can't since you are here as a guest. Best way to message you?
  5. I had to move my Fraghouse Corals Do-Si-Doe and that gave me a chance to take a close pic. I actually "thought" I had sold this as a frag to someone, after having decided not to keep it. I don't know what the heck I ended up giving that person, but I ended up with the wrong one. 🙂
  6. As a matter of fact, I'll put this out there: If anyone has any of these available I'd be interested. Send me a PM: Utter Chaos Rastas Magicians Blondies Oxides Blue hornets Candy apple reds Oompa loompas Fruit loops Eagle eyes Wows
  7. Go ahead and bring those zoas and euphyllias! For a change, I'm looking for softies for my 10 gallon nano. 😁
  8. I'm grateful that the chip in the glass I found the other day appears to be superficial. The tank looked peaceful last night under the evening blues, so I thought I'd share.
  9. I still don't know how it happened. I tried the "Now, I'm not going to get mad. I just want to know how it happened so I can prevent it from happening again. If you know something, tell me. . .it's ok" Yeah, not happening.
  10. I am blown away by how well this resin worked once I got it cured. I can't even find where the chip was. I'm not ready to say I dodged a bullet yet though; I'm going to watch it a few days and see. BTW - to get it to cure it dawned on me I had two very powerful UV lights right under my nose. Well, right above my nose. 😋 I cranked the actinic channel up to 100% and with the boost it cured in no time. Before: After cure: After clean-up:
  11. I've got the windshield repair kit going now, but I'm having trouble curing the resin without sunlight. I have a UV flashlight but so far it's not doing the job. I bought a stock tank from Tractor Supply, and have ordered a replacement tank (maybe) that should be here on Tuesday (maybe). Before starting the repair, I brought out a jeweler's loupe and re-examined the chip. It appears to be a surface chip only, and what I'm seeing as a lateral line may not be a crack but just the shape of the chip. I'll see how it looks if I get the resin to cure. There's a small chance that I leave it as is.
  12. If I were to guess, I would say someone was carrying something by the tank and it was smacked going by. The two chips are at the same level. Of course no one knows anything about how they got there. . . 🤐
  13. Outside. I'm going to do a windshield repair epoxy to stabilize it (hopefully) and I've decided I really need to change the tank. With all my travel I just would not want to risk or worry about it spreading while I'm away. It's either a controlled disaster or will be an unpredictable disaster, but a disaster either way.
  14. I just discovered two chips on the front of my 120 gallon in-wall tank and I'm extremely concerned. They are about 3" above the sandbed and " apart from one another. They the beginning of stress fracture lines starting. Is there anything I can do to minimize the risk of this spreading until I can replace the tank??? I was wondering if a windshield repair kit epoxy would help? I can't believe I'm even writing about having to tear down and re-do this tank. Any advice or thoughts on how to go about this would be greatly appreciated. Chip 1 Chip 2
  15. On the SA Reef Addicts Facebook group, some of the admins have organized a frag pack raffle to benefit a fellow reefkeeper in San Antonio that had much of his belongings destroyed when his home caught fire in the early morning. There are a lot of really nice items up for grabs; certainly worth the drive down if you were to win. 16. You've been quiet for a while. Nice way to jump back in to the conversation - "Look what I got!". 🙂
  17. I have a little live rock in the sump, but I use two of the 8"x8"x1" plates of MarinePure as well as a number of the 2x2" cubes. I've placed the cubes in the bubble trap so that all the water is forced to move over/through them. I've seen the plates and cubes deteriorate a bit in two years, but nothing that would make me worry. I've even rinsed them out/cleaned off the sponges once during this time. They've done a great job for me.
  18. After the Apocalypse, the two living things remaining will be cockroaches and your montipora spongodes . 😋
  19. I like the piece, but from a practicality standpoint, it's one of the worst livestock purchases I've made. 🙂 I don't know what I'm ultimately going to do with it.
  20. It's been two weeks shy of a year since I took the original pictures on the left. A year later and some have done phenomenally while others haven't shown as much growth. 21. I implemented a line feeding from the skimmer cup and increased media effectiveness from about 10 days to 4 weeks. The supply line to the skimmer coming from the scrubber is bypassing the silencer and direct to the venturi inlet, which is why it's not connected in the pic (people were thinking I had connected the hoses wrong first time I posted this 😀 )
