    Return Pump

You know, I have heard alot of folks say the new RIO pumps are great. I know the older ones had some issues, and I can verify that, but the new ones seem to be much better. They are cheap and move a decent amount of water. The older ones I have dont have a ground plug but the newer ones do. I have also noticed the new pumps run quiet, no rattle at all. I have a 2500 for my return pump but just wanted a little more flow through the sump. I was looking for about 1000GPH and no RIO can do that.

    PVC Fitting

I was at HD and Lowes and could not find anything that has a larger outlet. I did find the T that had two 2" inlets and a 1" outlet, but that is backwards for what I need.

    PVC Fitting

I am looking for PVC "T" that has two 1" inlets and a single 2" outlet. Make sense? I want to hard plump my drains with the 1" PVC tubing and have the 2" go right into the sump. Does anyone know where I can get on these fittings? Everywhere I have been in town says they do not exist, others say they must be custom made. -James

  5. Unles you have a physical failure of the disk drive, we should be able to get the data off the drive. This is no guarentee, but very likely. We should be able to get all your pictures, music, and documents. If the machine needs to be reloaded, you will need to have all the CD's that came with your machine. The Gateway's usually have a restore CD case that includes all the software that was loaded from the factory. Our Aunt had a Gateway with the same problem and we just reloaded the machine. All was fine after that. I sent you a message with my contact information if you would like me to help out. And of course, there is no charge. Since the screw was on the carpet, I dont think it has anything to do with your failure. If the screw was inside the case and rolling around, I would then suspect it may have shorted something on the motherboard. Save the screw.
  6. I will be willing to help out if needed. There are several things to cause a computer to fail the boot process. In most cases, you will need to reload the machine. Since the computer is trying to boot, getting the data off should not be an issue. I actually work at Microsoft and would like to help you resolve the issue. Can you tell me what operating system you are running?

    Return Pump

Thanks everyone. I am looking for a new pump to replace my Rio 2500 (very bad!). I do have an Ocean Runner 3500 (900GPH) connected to my skimmer and it seems quiet and cool. Plus it only uses 65W comapared to a Mag 12's 110W. I have also heard that Mag pumps run really hot and my temp is already around 80 in the summer. Any other opinions out there?

    Poll, what do you use?
  9. Really want to hear how everyone's sump is designed as I am looking to build another one. Also interested in what everyone has on hand in case of emergency. Torn between the two, but voted for sump.
  10. I wish I had went with a 4' tank, not a 6' tank! Looking good.
  11. Wow. Pretty low on both! Thanks for testing the salt.

    Free 29G Tank

I have a used 29G aquarium if anyone needs one. A friend gave this to me but it's scratched up preety good and I dont want to use it. This was a FW tank so there is some green on the silicon. I have filled the tank with water and vinager and it does not leak. I cleaned it as best I could. I was going to use it for a QT tank, but it may be better suited for a sump. I live in Cedar Park and would prefer someone to pick it up. If not, we can arange something in the middle or a LFS. James
  13. Welcome to the site, George.
  14. Again, I am sorry about not making up.

    Got Sand?

Well I have a goby, lawnmower, and a psudochromis. I dont think they would eat too many of them.

    Got Sand?

Dang! I had been reading your upgrade thread as well. I take it you did not move your sand from your old tank into ther new one? Sorry the limestone thing did not work out.

    Got Sand?

I dont know if this is the right place to post this but I really need some good live sand. I would love a few pounds of sand with anything living. I have 140 pounds of sand and have not seen anything in there. If anyone has some good sand with worms and all they are will to give/sell, PLEASE let me know. Can you please help a FOWLR guy out? My tank has been running for a little less than a year and I see noting in the sand.

    Sumps

I have heard that you can get some cheaper lighting from Home Depot/Lowes to light the fuge. They sell a clip on light that takes a small CF bulb. I dont have a fuge but see alot of folks off Reef Central using that setup. Sorry, I cant answer the sand question. I would think that if the flow was pretty slow it would not cause a sand storm. You could also do live rock if you are just looking at additional filtration.
  20. Yeah, the math killed me! Am I right in saying that if I do two 1 inch drains, I should be better off then joining the two drains with a T in the middle? My bulkheads are 1 inch out of the tank. All I have to do is glue the lines on.
  21. Got it. Thanks for the quick replies.
  22. I like it. You can’t beat the price at less than $200 shipped. The NW200 comes with the Ocean Runner 3500 pump which is quiet and cool. I keep my sump level about 8 inches and have the stand pipe as low as it can go and pull some nasty gunk from my tank. I have not done any mods but I hear you can mod the NW and dramatically increase the performance.
  23. Thanks Rich. I too have Koralia's providing most of the in-tank flow. I have one #4 right now and will be getting another #4 tomorrow. I dont have a fuge, yet. I am looking to change out my 29G sump with a 30G so its no so tight with the skimmer (Octopus NW200). I plan to drill a hole to join my new sump and an older acrilic tank (future fuge) together with a bulkhead. This is one reason I was thinking of the dual drain option.
  24. No worries. Take your time. It may be better to collect several salts and test out of the same batch of RO/DI. Sorry for the off topic reply. Thanks again for testing the salt. James
