  1. What type of tang is good for this? I have enough to feed all the tangs in Texas!
  2. Hey everyone. It's been a while since I was on here. I need a little help here. Attached is a picture of the algae that has consumed my tank. I am pulling out a 5G bucket every month. The tank has no livestock as I am debating on selling. Is there anything I can do to make this stop growing? I have not had the lights on for a month and its still growing like crazy. Am I destine to just cook the rocks? ">

    Tank Cleaning

Thanks everyone. I only need a one time cleaning so I will consider the suggestions above. Heck, I may even post a "help clean my tank party" and supply drinks and BBQ for whoever wants to help me out. I could use some advice and suggestions. James

    Tank Cleaning

Hi everyone. It's been a while since I was actively posting on here. Things have been really busy with work and some medical issues. Anyone have recommendations for a place that does aquarium maintenance? I have been so tempted to break the tank down, but I really dont want to leave the hobby right now. Not to mention, the return on investment is not that great for my setup. I would love to have someone come in and clean this thing up and get me back into the spirit. I look at it and just don't know where to start. James
  5. Here are a few pictures of my setup. This is from auto top off .com and has worked great for about a year. Keeps the water level dead on. Here is my water reservoir and pump... Here are the float switches... The only thing I do is clean the switches a few times a year. So far, this has not failed me once (knock on wood). James
  6. Same here. I just upgraded it to a higher capacity. In that case, the restrictor is in the 90* waste water joint (red tube). Mine was gray, but the color changes depending on the rating.
  7. If there is no flow restrictor, you are not making RO water. Be sure to look inside the fitting that comes off the RO housing. On my unit, if I remove the waste tube from the 90* elbow, the flow restrictor is inside the fitting. Some are actually slipped into the end of hose that connects to the fitting.
  8. I converted my 50GPD to a 75GPD by just changing the membrane and restrictor. The flow restrictor is usually in the drain line. On my unit, I unscrew the drain line from the fitting and the restrictor sits right there. They are like $2 to replace. Hope this helps, feel free to PM with and questions.
  9. Thats what I have been feeding, he just wont eat it. Is there a specific type that I could try? I have tried the brown and green with no success.
  10. I seem to have bad luck with lawnmowers. This is my second one, and he does not seem to be eating enough. I have been adding some brown/green algae sheets but he will not touch it. I see him nipping on the rocks, but the guy looks so skinny. Anyone have a sure fire solution on what to feed? Thanks in advance....James

    Need some jugs

I would like to find some square water jugs. I currently have water cooler jugs but they take up so much space! Anyone have some for sale?
  12. I will take the fan
  13. Great meeting today. It was good to see some old faces and meet some new people. Oh, and the chicken bites were great! Thanks Andrew for allowing us to use your home. You tank looks amazing!
  14. Wow, I am sorry to hear about your loss. If there is anything you need, just PM me.
  15. I had this issue as well (high SG). What I did was to pull 1 gallon of salt water out per day (135g DT) and replaced with RO/DI water. It took a few days, but it kept anything from getting shocked by the sudden change.
  16. I plan to be there as well. I will confirm once we get closer to the meeting date. My work hours are crazy these days. James
  17. I want to thank everyone who came to the meeting. I was great seeing old and new faces. I cant thank everyone enough for providing corals. You have made the tank MUCH more pleasant to look at. I cant thank you enough. I have been moving and gluing frags since you left. I gained a lot of insight on what I did right/wrong and truly appreciate the feedback. I cant wait till our next meeting.
  18. It was good to meet you as well. Thanks for the frag. I will keep you updated on its progress. James
  19. Not sure on food/drink. I bought some drinks and will be making queso. We also have three bags of chips. Hot dogs are available as well. James
  20. Not worries about a firm count. Right now, we are looking at about 20 people.
  21. Welcome! Please post some pictures and specifics on you tank.
  22. I am dosing Kalk via my ATO and love it. My PH and Alk has stabilized, and the coraline has really started to come in. I have seen no adverse affects so far. I top off with 5G water cooler jugs and add 4 Tsp of Kalk per jug. Just let it settle a bit before you dose. James
  23. Okay everyone. I will be making a batch of queso, grilling some dogs, and getting a few cases of coke (diet and reg.). If there are any special requests let me know ASAP. I have a bouncer in the backyard for any MANAGED kids that show up. This is in addition to the swing set. I hope to see some of you here. Again, sorry for scheduling on top of MAAST. James
  24. That is a nice sump. If my skimmer would fit in there, I would buy it. Good deal, nice sump.
