  3. IMO, its all personal preference on the look and color you like. On a 55G anything from 6-8 T5s or MH (250W) will work. Also where you place the species. Whats your end result of what you want the tank to be? If stonies then more light. If softies less light. This is JMO, im not a professional, but i did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night....LOL

  18. i wish there prices would reflect how the economy has went down, still to high for my blood. Do they ever buy colonies Mark?
  19. or DIY ur own fixture. then u can make it the way u want it.
  20. so i guess for almost a year i have had no heater, this winter the tank would get down to 76.8 at night and 80 during the day. i didnt see any ill effects. During the summer months my tank stayed around 79.2 night and 80.4 during the day. to this day i havnt had any problems with the corals or fish i have, i thnk its cause its a graduale warming and cooling.
  21. I wsa going to say something about GFO, it will help ALOT. if the tank is new it will take time to get it gone, it will go away. Or did for me. The more natural you can keep it the better for the system. Let it run its course, run carbon and gfo. This is JMO, im not a professional.
  22. it may not show up or it might. No time table IMO.
  23. I guess that my water change process is about the same, I keep 20G of RO/DI water on hand at all times, and 25G stored in a garbage can in garage. The morning im gonna do a water change i bring in my BRUTE trashcan and pour 20Gs into it, then i put 1.5lbs per 5 gallons of water into it. I drop in a RIO1500 and let mix till its crystal clear, if there is a temp problem i drop in a heater to warm it up. I then syphone out the DT (20Gs) and then plug the hose onto the end of the RIO1500 and pump the new water back into the DT. Also when i do my WCs i turn off the tank and pumps during the drain and fill process. Usually this pocess only take me about 30-45mins for a complete water change.
  24. ok,ok,ok...I used to use Gman bulbs, used to. I have been using WAVEPOINT for almost a year and havent seen any ill effects. I personaly like them, havent done any PAR comparisons but my corals speaker for themselves. I just ordered 16 replacement bulbs, 8 for now and 8 for when they come due for changeing again. I purchased 8 from RCA and 8 from HELLOLIGHTING, i also get my MH bulbs from them cause they offer FREE shipping and are usually cheaper by $1-$2.
