  1. alright split a box with joshman and I
  2. well I guess I am going to need some reagent too. How much of this stuff do you need?
  3. that is an excellent price point for that thing. Count me in as well.
  4. you will have to get light in there. You can do submersible leds or just peel the black backing off and hang a light there. I think a healthy fuge with lots of pods would outperform the stock setup. I have yet to see one in a bio cube that works though.
  5. that chalice is super sick. I would love to see that thing as a large piece. Don't frag it!!! hehe. The German blue is the one I was talking about, truly exquisite. Put me at the end of the long line as well.
  6. fishypets. Where do you get Bio Actif. I would like to be able to +1 that
  7. we need to start enforcing the price rule...
  8. Andrew's advice is good. I have done the same successfully. However I did it in a QT tank so I didn't have to worry about all the waste build up from the wasteful weening process.
  9. you could pull off a nice LED setup in the stock hood for around 300 bucks.
  10. stone roller what is that sps? That is the most elegant piece I have seen in a while.
  11. I have moved toward a thinner bed in my displays. The thick bed is a time bomb.
  12. like I said, its a gamble. Why gamble when there are plenty of other options you can buy to eat your algae and not have to worry about it? If you want to go through the extra ordinary efforts to properly identity the sub species as safe...by all means. But short of that, you made the right call removing them. All it takes is a few to reach plague like numbers and then you discover they are the bad ones...then you are screwed.
  13. kill. There are many types of these starfish, its a crap shoot as to weather you got the good kind. When in doubt, KILL. Some types of these eat coraline and coral. Others are harmless. Look on GARF's site for more nfo
  14. agreed, using the trap is all about not expecting it to work right off the bat. The way I trap is just to put food and trap in and leave it there. If I happen to walk by and the fish is in there, BAM! got that sucker. When you are sitting there holding the string drooling they tend to stay away from the trap...
  15. I would put something else for them to host in. They will damage the coral over time if they are aggressively defending the host. I would use diluted HCL(muratic acid) to clean your pumps. Or any other moderately strong acid diluted in water.
  16. what is the subject of the next meeting?
  17. If you live central e.g. within between 51 and riverside respond to this thread. It would be nice to get a group of people together to do trades with etc. Maybe have a downtown get together at my house to trade tank stories and get to know each other. Don't get me wrong I love everyone in the reef club even your north folk but mannn I am tired of driving north hehe. So if you live near downtown give a shout!! Nick
  18. how many days did you leave the trap in? I haven't failed with my trap yet. But it does take patience some times. Leave the trap in a few days and feed your fish with it. What kind of traps did you use? Custom made or the ones they sell at the LFS? Nick
  19. yep your still in line. I'll give you a call when I head home from work.
  20. I ended up ordering alone...no love
  21. Do you know what time? I should be around during the morning. 1 hammer left 1 monti left 2 birds nests left.
  22. I may be able to stop by during the day with my trap. I also build them for $40 if you want one of your own.
