Yeah it might just be the rubber holds have shrunk over time and now it rattles in there. Either way I wanted something a lot quieter for my office. Guess I just got to gamble and see what happens.

I recently cleaned out the old pump in my BioCube 29 which has been running strong since 2007! However, it has become pretty loud and I would like to replace it with a quiet pump as I was thinking about moving the tank in my office. Problem is its like impossible to figure out what is quality these days. I was looking at Jebao DCW SINE DC Controllable Water Pump (DCW-1500) Jebao DCP-2500 LANDEN BIOSMO 1000 The reviews are all over the place. Just need something that is quiet. will last years and will maintain a consistent water level such that my ATO works reliability. Ideas?

The mount, ballast and bulbs from a og biocube 29 with 3rd lamp upgrade. Also have many bulbs I can give you as well. Might be good guts for a seedling grow setup or frag setup. Will keep it up for a few days before junking it.

I have used "Blue Vet" red slime remover in the past. It worked really well but I went with 1/2 the recommended dose. It also seemed to have the long term effect of taking out some of my good filtering bacteria as well or killing off enough of something that it started to raise my N levels. It also caused irritation in SPS and total retraction of my yellow polyps for a week or so. I accelerated water changes to give the biological bed a chance to recover. And all was well.

I try to use the opportunity to learn something from the sick fish so the life is not wasted. I had a dwarf lion once that got lock jaw. I made a syringe tube feeding apparatus and pumped his stomach with food rich in omega3 fatty acids for a few weeks. He healed from the lock jaw and started to eat again on his own and made a full recovery. Now I have extended this method to use smaller tubes etc. to save malnourished tangs and smaller fish. (MUCH harder) I would take your goby out and put him in a QT for close observation. try feeding him directly by putting food directly in his mouth. See how he does. But I can understand taking the other approach as well. Nick
