Around 10 years(off an on) of FW while growing up, in a 55g tank with Stainless steel trim and a slate bottom. Around 5 years in SW first with a 28g cube that was FOWLR around 6 years ago. Then for the last 3 years I have had a 28g mixed reef.

My order is in, around $30.

I will be in for around 20$ or so. I'm in Georgetown.

I would be interested as well.

Do you have enough material to do a blooper reel?

The current version of the Reefkeeper Elite allows you to control it via web/smartphone.

I just turn off my return pumps and skimmer. Then feed and 5minutes later the pumps come back on. Gotta love controllers for making this easy.

Decided not to do Solid Carbon Dosing?

Sorry to hear you have had such a rough time with it. I have been running my RKE w/NET for about a year now without much trouble. The couple times I have had problems, DA has been quick to resolve them. I use it for everything from Lighting timers, temp control of heater and extra fan, and my ATO. I performed the update to the system software last year, and had a problem with the NET module but I was able to get it resolved without sending back to DA. I just had to send them the dongle you use to connect the devices to your computer for updates. Since that can only be done by them. Also the old temp probe went bad last year and they sent me the new updated one under warranty. Though their process is kinda wonky. I had to purchase the new one then send them the old one with the invoice for the new one and the CASE# so they could send me the refund. Had I known more when I purchased my controller I might have looked closer at Neptune but overall I am satisfied.

Do you know what the source of your crash was?

I have had the one from BRS for over a year now. No Rust. No Complaints. Comes with a case & calibration fluid.

Not sure that 3 days of darkness will do anything for hair algae. I've only had it help with cyano outbreaks. Hopefully your results are better than mine.

I would just send prof a message through the forums here. He's usually pretty good about responding to them.

You could always just use a static cling blackout window film.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm pretty sure this is what I will go with.

I was thinking about getting one of these for the 90gallon tank I planning. Has anyone used one? Thoughts? Comments? One of the things that really drew me to this skimmer was it's small footprint (9"x7").
TIA

It looks like a Sea Hare. Good Algae eaters, but if you don't have any algae they starve and die. If they die they poison the tank, so keep it fed or sell it....basically.

I have a bucket of reef crystals with a screw on lid. It doesn't keep the humidity out nearly as well as the snap top lids though.

Enjoyed reading your thread. I wouldn't worry about dosing Alkalinity or Calcium until you have a bit of Coral in your tank. Your weekly water changes should help to maintain your parameters for a while. It's only when your coral is consuming more than the water change replenishes that you need to worry about dosing.
Btw - I would recommend a closed top container for your water top-off since RO/DI water can absorb things right out of the air. I have a small stand as well and use a small plastic 3gallon gas can I bought at Home Depot.
Keep up the good work.

I was able to acclimate one easily enough....just took ~5hours of drip acclimation. The fished lived for ~8months and then mysteriously died without warning. I think it cost me $1.50 from Petsmart.

I like to purchase DI Resin and/or replacement filters online from Bulk Reef Supply or from The Filter Guys

The only thing I have found the 3 days of darkness help with is Cyano outbreaks. I have never seen it affect GHA.
