    So I got bit by the bug again. I started keeping a reef tank back in late 2005 early 2006. I was very active in the dfwmas group, until I received a job offer down here in Austin in late 2006. When I first moved here I left my tank up in dallas with my parents. My dad took great care of it for a while but when I finally moved it down here nothing really survived the trip. I tried to get it back to the way it was but I just didn't have the time or money to spend.

    I spent some time here on ARC for the first year or so and met some really cool people. I don't expect many to remember me after being gone so long, but I'm back.

    So last weekend I went to my parents house and a Tanked marathon was on. Well the bug bit me and I can't make it go away. This time I think it bit my wife as well. She is now registered on here as flyingaggie02. We went to RCA and Aquadome today and made a few decisions. Water and sand went in tonight. Looking for a few cups of LS to help seed it. Also looking for some low priced if not free LR.

    One ? though. Years ago I used some pulverized limestone made by pavestone for substrate but I just can't seem to find it anywhere now. Any ideas?

    I'm starting with a 24g nanocube by JBJ. This was my first marine tank. I'm going with an open top and want to mount leds above. Its only 19" across so it won't take the traditional 24" setup. Looking for something in the 16-18" range. I like a lot of the pendant types but really either would work.

    After I get my hands wet again I'm hoping to setup a 55g that I have kept in the attic for the last 6 years change the nano to a QT and add another 40g hex I have held onto for either sps or some horses.

    I guess thats me in a nutshell. I can't wait to relearn everything I forgot as well as learn a lot of the stuff I never got a chance to.

    Getting out for now selling rock, sand, and false perc

    Due to things beyond my control I am taking my tank down for an unknown period of time. I have live rock approx 60 lbs, plenty of sand its over a year old, and a false perc (probably a female by now she has been by herself for the last 6 months)

    Rock I guess for $2/lb sand is free if you buy something else. Because i have not been able to take the care I would like to the rock may need to be cleaned one way or another, some of it has some hydroids but with some kalk paste they should go away pretty easy, other pieces have some GSP that is kinda dormant right now. I may have a few zoo's left but dont think so. one of the reasons im getting rid of the stuff is i have been having an algae problem and cant get the red slime to go away. so quarantining would be a good idea, I KNOW i dont have any flat worms or red bugs or that kind of stuff.

    pavestone makes a pulverized limestone sand that works great. i will post some pics once i find em. but i am using it and i love it. I dont know which homedepots carry it here but its usually like 5 bucks for 50 lbs and for some reason it was on sale when i got it for like 2.99

    edited to add pics - these pics are pretty old, i will take some new ones if you would like, i use this in both my pico and my nano. and once i get the money for a big tank ill use it in there

    ok so I am not going to say where (so you guys dont beat me to it) but i think i found a tunze skimmer for $100, not knowing much about them. which model should i be looking for to use on a 55-75 gallon tank (possibly 75 display and 55 sump) anyone have much experience with these?

    ill post a pick of my diy to the filter and yeah i would love dwarf horses but like i said im NOT ready for babies

    (i dont even know how to grow rotifers yet) and i need to pancure the rock. ( unless there is another way to get rid of everything that might hurt the horses)

    gabe is that a FTS? and do you still have those zoo's and rics?

    What should i put in my pico? (thanks James)

    Its a 1.5g little LED light (i think its 9 or 12 led's) its got a little tetra air powered filter. i did some diy work and took off the air powered part and tossed on a mini jet 404(the green one) so that works pretty well.

    i have like 2lbs of LR maybe a pound of sand (not live yet) I put in a piece(very small) of shrimp to start the cycle and have a little hermit in there with some macro (halmedia)

    so as far as livestock what should i look at.

    shrimp- I was thinking either cleaner or peppermint .

    Mushrooms - maybe a frilly mushroom (from the nano)

    zoo's - (5 or 6 different kinds)

    Rics - gonna have to get some.

    GSP - Carefully placed as to contain them

    a few hermits

    i was thinking dwarf seahorses 2 maybe, but not until i have the labor and delivery ward finished.

    as far as i can think its too small for any actual fish, I would love to have a little tiny fish in there but most of them grow too big for 1.5g. I need a fish that doesn't swim (maybe a fat ugly fish that doesn't ever move)

    I have 2 green chromis that i honestly am getting tired of looking at and i dont think the clown likes them. i would like something different, a shrimp or 2 would be cool. some zoo's really thinking about a cleaner shrimp though, something that i could put in my new pico(1.5g thanks James) I dont know just want to send them to a better home than they are currently in (one that will appreciate them more)

    anyway let me know what ya got.

    i had some brds nest before and the polyps NEVER came out. i honestly didn't know what it looked like until i saw someone elses and said ooooo whats that? all i had showing was the stony base no polyps. i dont know if it was parameters or what

    I hate the whole "what can you give me" posts but...

    I am getting bored with what i have (it hasn't changed in like 6 months) I'd like something new in my tank and the wife has taken my tanks credit card, (funny it has a way of spending money quickly)

    im just looking for something small a few zoo polyps a mushroom , finger leathers (any softie really) whatever you are tired of looking at.

    It's a 24G nanocube stock lights LOTs of flow MJ1200 in the back and 2 -900's in the display.

    I may have a small red sea xenia elongata and can cut plenty of kenya tree if you would like some of that.
